I am 6 months post initial fracture of right wrist. During that time I had an unsuccessful Orif with complications, unsuccessful external fixator for 8 weeks. Currently I am 3 weeks post seconad Orif with plate. No cast or splint were put after surgery. I am still in a lot of pain, very stiff fingers, although I can move them but not make a fist. Almost non existent muscle left on my hand, have scars and fingers are still swollen.
I wonder if someone here had a similar experience? What recovery realistically can I expect and how long?

I broke my wrist at the beginning of April, I had an operation, and had a K wire put in with a cast on, I had them removed after about 6 weeks, and now I cannot bend my first 3 fingers, I can bend my index finger a little but not fully, my thumb can bend normally, I saw the consultant about 3 weeks ago and he told me the swelling can take up to 18 months to go down as my hand and to just past my wrist is swollen, and I also get a lot of pain, but I also have carpal tunnel syndrome, and osteoathritis, in both my hands, so some of the pain could be due to that, I had physio and they have given me exercises to do, which I do regularly, and they do seem to help a little, luckily OR NOT, mine was my left hand as I am right handed
