Zolpidem

Hi i have major anxiety problems and even worse sleep problems. Have been given zolpidem as a new drug in the hope it helps... just wondering if people had any experiences whilst on this that they could share with me to curb my anxiety on taking them. Thanks

Zolpidem has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular problems. You might want to tell your doc you'd prefer Zopiclone (in the UK) or Eszopiclone (in the US).

Maybe zolpidem has a tiny bit more of an anti-anxiety effect than zopiclone, but I wouldn't value it very much for it.

Incidentally, just in case you are offered them, dothiepin aka dosulepin, an antidepressant/anxiolytic, has a worse heart problem reputation, and mirtazapine causes terrible wait gain pronblems.

Have tried zopiclone and had a dodgy reaction to it hence the zolpidem... am taking propanolol and venlafaxine for my anxiety the zolpidem is primarily for my sleeping or lack of

Hi, I take zolpidem but it will only work if you just have a sleep problem without anxiety. If the anxiety is causing your insomnia it won't help because anxiety could be the root of the insomnia and therefore causing you not to sleep and zolpidem helps you to sleep not help with the anxiety. Its the trying to deal with anxiety which is the most difficult and causes a vicious cycle.I hope it does work for you because if you can try to calm the anxiety at bedtime it can work.
