In my mass of brain fog today I'm sure I've taken 25mg pred instead of the usual 15mg. I won't bore you with the details of my silly actions!
Should I somehow taper down or is it OK to return to usual dose tomorrow?

Sars77, from the internet: Most people who overdose on corticosteroids have minor changes in their body’s fluids and electrolytes. If they have changes in their heart rhythm, their outlook may be more serious. Some problems related to taking corticosteroids may occur even when they are taken properly. It's really not a big deal. Especially since it was just the one day. When I got sick another doctor other than the one treating my PMR bumped my prednisone up from 10 mg to 50 mg and I had no problems whatsoever.
But on another note I would strongly recommend that you use a pill planner. That way mistakes don't happen.
One not very big slip up won't matter.
I'd normally hesitate to be so adamant but when my dose was 10mgs. I had, because of another problem (reaction to penicillin ), to up it to 20 for a week. I especially asked at the hospital whether it was ok to revert to my original dose after the week on 20 and was told it would be ok and it was.
I feel great !! 😂
I did something similar a while back and rang our NHS helpline. They suggsted it was an'accidental overdose' and wanted to send an ambulance! To cut a long story short, I ended up at A&E but once I had explained the situation and I only wanted to know 'what dose do I take tomorrow?' - they said, don't worry and return to your normal dose ASAP.
That's very interesting Michdonn, thanks.. the abnormal heart rythm I only ever get a few hours after Pred. So I assumed it was withdrawal effect. And today, after taking too much, I've not had the usual afternoon flutters! And very little pain 🤔

This probably happens a lot .....easily done. Go back to your normal dose tomorrow. I have a routine for remembering to take my steroids at the correct amount but as someone else said you can buy pill containers which give the day and there are some which have meal times. You can buy whatever suits your requirements. It certainly saves mistakes.
Sars77, one of the things I have learned being on the forum is that each individual, each case in different. We are all in this journey together living and leaning towards the end. I have my smile on my face! 🙂
Sars77, I take some time each morning to set my pills out for the day, 5 containers, 4 of which I can put in my pocket, for lunch or dinner pill taking. When I was working had couple of nice pill boxes, but now just small containers work fine. I find it much easier to take the pills if I have them with me. 🙂

I wouldn't be too sure about that! I was left confused this evening - I'm SURE I hadn't taken my anticoagulant! I'd filled the 24 hour dosette box before going out for the day yesterday morning - always take a day of tablets with me. But it had my mid-afternoon tablet in twice so it would last until this afternoon. The evening slot was empty - but what was the truth????????

I wouldn't worry I've had 3 dental procedures this last year and a hospital admission with gastrointestinal problems and on all occasions the doctors/dentist doubled my steroids on the day of treatment, reverting back to my normal dose the next day without any problems.

I only take one other pill besides pred, so not too much to worry about. I still have a "system". For one tablet that I take I write on the packaging days of the week . When I take it, it is pretty obvious, seal is broken. For pred, which I take in the morining and before bed time, I keep notes and always write time and dose before taking pills. In that way I refresh my memory what dose I should take.
It is easy when you just take 1 or 2 - I take pills 4x daily, often on the hoof, so writing things down isn't practical. And it all depends on the packaging - the ones with days of the week are superb. But this particular capsule is in an ENORMOUS aluminium foil envelope and the 2x3x6 inch cardboard box has 30 days supply as 10 packs of 6. And because I'd slid the refill time I couldn't be sure. 
I doubt I'll die...
Gosh, Michdonn the poor thing only took ONE overdose on one day - don't frighten the poor person. (He/Her)!!
