Anxiety will only consume you if you let it!

Reading some of the posts on here my anxiety issues are relatively mild in comparison to others at the moment. However I can totally relate to the feeling of being trapped in your own head. Feeling lost and separated from the rest of the world. Thinking every heart palpitation is going to lead to a heart attack. Thinking everyone who looks at you thinks your crazy. Thinking yourself your going mad. However... anxious episodes don't last forever. You can make your repetitive negative thought processes stop. It's no way easy...it can take weeks, months even years, and you never really forget it. Never forget how that episode made you feel, but it does and can get better. Don't think it will consume you and run your life. Our anxiety is only a little part of our lives. It doesn't own us! Life was never Meant to be easy....but there are soo many beautiful things in our lives that make it worth it! smile xx

I'm afraid your experience is not the same as many, you run the risk of over simplifying and over generalising. I'm sure you mean very well, but someone in a dark place who reads your post may well be very upset

It's not my intention to upset anyone. I too have been in a dark place in the past. I just wanted to post something positive and put it out there that it can get better!

Hi. It's good to hear some positive post about anxiety. People, even those who are suffering at their worst, need to hear there is hope and life can get better otherwise what's the point. Thank you, you've cheered me up 😀

Thanks lanie that cheered me up,you have obviously been through it yourself as your description was right on the ball any advice would be good on how you got through it would be good. I read a book called self help for your nerves by Dr Clair weeks it is really useful and helps better than meds sometimes, I still go through some tough times but I'm hoping one day I Will get there any way take care and good luck with your recovery x

Hey...no worries. Pleased I have cheered you up! smile

Hi,..pleased I have cheered you up. It is tough, but you can get there smile

I'm glad to hear that you have a positive outlook on anxiety and you have to,I've had panic attacks and anxiety for 14 years and Im fairly young,I've stop taking the med because I didn't want to depend on them, and I was scared of side effects. I even started trying to go out more though I have agoraphobia, but honestly is so hard. I go to school, I have kids and I'm married trying to find a job. With all of that the news of so much suffering going on it takes a tole on a person . I have went to the hospital once even twice a week within a month.its hard because it has ran my life somewhat for 14 years, I'm very strong minded so if you have a therapist telling you do this and that and they have never experienced what you have. It doesn't really help sometimes. I had one therapist I loved, and she had to move . I never found a individual like her again. So I'm just struggling right now with my feelings and social life.

Hello... I still have my good and bad days. I just take each day as it comes. I'm no longer on any meds, as I don't believe they're the answer. Though I do understand how they can make people feel better in the short term. Since my massive panic attack 10 years ago, I've only had minor upsets, and have been med free for 2 years now. I have my kiddies to distract me and refuse to let the anxiety get the better of me again. It's not easy, but my children need their mum, not a lost soul! smile x
