just wondering if anybody has done so without any problems. the stockings are driving me mad and currently I am 5 weeks and 2 days but really want to take them off....I will still take the 2 aspirin daily but would love to remove them.

should be post op not pro op
I took mine off as soon as I was mobile at home and took anti coagulant meds xxx
I didn't have to wear stockings, my surgeon wanted me to have hydrotherapy asap but I was on blood thinners for 5 weeks. If you are taking blood thinners and doing lots of walking/exercises don't see why you need stockings at this stage.
hi rachel
I am only on aspirin so not sure if that is strong enough. I am doing a lot of walking at the moment maybe 2 miles a day so hoping that helps.
HI
yes I am only on aspirin but for 6 weeks. thanks for your help.
maggie
I'm a week and 2 days in . I haven't worn them since second day!! My surgeon didn't mind so long as I kept moving, also I have a month of blood thinning injections , precautionarty xx
thanks gaby yes it does appear you have to have the blood thinning injections which I am not having so may have to perservere with the stockings! thanks for your help.maggie
I am on blood thinning medication so have been told I dont need the stockings as well . I would think you should be fine now, my husband had a knee replacement in March and he gave up on the stockings after a couple of weeks, but he is on warfarin. Think you have done well for that long they are a nightmare!
Hi,
I was told to take them off after 4weeks.
i hope I never have to wear them again!

Hi
I am on blood thinners and socks. Not sure how long the socks will last as it means I cant shower if hubby is not around to help put them on again. Surgeon said to do both as dvt is a killer

I took mine off at home 3 days after surgery, had no swelling, healing nicely, it is overrated, I think your fine.
Hi maggie
I am desperate to take these things off for good, especially the last few days. I know I havent been around much, couldnt charge up my tablet till I got a new cable then I had got out of the habit of using it.
My recovery has been really slow due to the lack of pain relief but am definitely better than I was, still on 2 crutches but managing on 1 some of the time. During the day I am fine but once I am in bed the ted stockingsjust drive me nuts lol. I was thinking this morning I would just change them for ordinary support stockings at oeast those do not get get stuck between your toes. I've finished on my Clexane injections as well.
Hard to believe the 6 weeks are nearly here. X take care
thanks julia. yes tempting to dump them! thanks maggie
hi cathie
you were same date as me too...did you take any injections or just aspirin?
maggiex
thanks kate. maggie
thanks maggie
hi kristin
wondered how you were doing. glad you are ok.
I was taken off the crutches today by physio but he still thought I should keep the ted stockings on.....only a few more days but they are horrible at night. glad you have finished your injections too.
all going well we will be new women next year!
maggiex
I'm still to arrange physio, was waiting till I was less sore and also there should be hydroerapy. Must be great to dump those crutches.
I vary from day to day. Have tried sleeping on my side the last two nights but it makes me sore the next day. Cannot explain that, I have a pulow between my kegs and sleep on my good side. Its the same with usng one crutch, I limp more and end up sore but its much easier to get up and down stairs so I keep practising.
Yes, next year we should be like new fingers crossed lol. X
You sond like you are doing well. I cannot sleep on my side yet at all.
I have only just stopped waddling when walking but when tired go back to it a bit. you are right its like one day good one day bad and thats the recovery I think and we have to be patient. my new exercise today is like step class up and down step 40 times in one go to try and strengthen for going up and down stairs. lets see how that goes. he has given me two weeks to strengthen up. maggiex
