Burning discomfort in stomach with gastro resistant prednisolone.

I was taking uncoated pred but had to switch to gastro resistant because of severe stomach problems.

I have been more-or-less fine since the change until recently and today have had really bad burning in stomach following taking my pred this morning.

I do not take meds with food as I did not think this was necessary with coated tablets. Have I made a mistake here? I also have severe diverticulitis.

Theoretically it shouldn't matter - but you obviously have a very delicate stomach. However, do please get it checked out by your doctor in case it is something else.

Are you on anything else? Omeprazole, alendronic acid or anything?

Thankyou for posting this I have been having severe indigestion too with unoated. Prednisone..I also had an attack of diverticulosis....Thankyou I will tell my Rhemy....But I would take your with food or milk..I will also do that!

Hello Eileen. I have been taking Lansoprazole for a number of years but was trying to reduce and eventually stop once I became aware of the side effects. I take it occasionally but not every day.

I am taking Vitamin D and gastro resistant aspirin: also bendroflumethiazide for hypertension.

I'm not taking alendronic acid.

I was taking uncoated steroids for a few months with severe burning pain before changing to coated. Perhaps I should get it checked out. Thank you.

Thank you for your advice, Phyllis. Hope things settle down for you.

Thankyou Cynthia

It is a UK "thing" - not available anywhere else as far as I know.
