I posted yesterday about feeling really really bad - nausea and vomiting all day long.
Had an appointment with my psychiatrist today and she asked me to stop the 50 mg I've been taking for 14 days instantly.
I even sent her an email later to confirm a full stop and she confirmed.
Have any of you tried this? Normally I've seen a full stop as a no-go but perhaps diffeeenr when a. Side effects are so severe and 2. I've only taken them for 14 days?
Hi, I also had to stop "cold turkey" after 2 weeks on 50mg. - the great worry is that you may have difficulty finding a SSRI that works for you. I know that sertraline is a very active one that boosts norinephrine, and that other meds may be milder.
I had a little bit of nausea, and badly disrupted sleep. - also the occasional headache in the evening. It takes a week to come out of your system, but there are traces of other chemicals for up to a month that can upset you if you are intolerant to meds. The problem is that after 14 days, the drug is fully in your system...
Talk to lots of people, as you may have low mood for a few days. - you will survive of course, but it is a s**t week or so. Remember, it is not a true "cold turkey" - many meds like benzos are far, far worse than this!!
If your anxious about going cold turkey, could you take it a bit slower and take half a dose for a week and then stop? Assumimg you have some tablets left. I guess it depends why your psychiatrist has said to stop completely. Are they worried about serotonin syndrome? IF not I don’t not see what why you have to suddenly stop.
Hi Matt.
Thanks for your answer.
Why did you stop and have you started any other antidepressants?
