I've recently been diagnosed with genital herpes I've been with 3 people in my life and I'm trying to determine how I got it, this has been a very bad outbreak and I've been told it's likely to be my first because I've never noticed symptoms before this, the last 2 people I slept with were over 2 years ago but I'm currently in a relationship and weve been sexually active for around 6 months but he's never had symptoms is it more likely that I got it previously and I wasn't aware or that my current bf wasnt aware he had it and I got it from him just recently with my first noticed outbreak
Hi Katie it is very certain from ur last relationship before the one ur in now I had the same situation before my relationship now. Are u OK and how r u dealing with it? My 1st outbreak was very itchy and sore I felt so low and upset but felt with it but at this very moment I don't know if I am currently having a 2 nd outbreak as I'm very itchy but no pain as such as yet, but went to docs and gave me thrush treatment to see if Tht wotk s which I'm hoping fingers cross Tht it will.
Sorry you are going through this. The most important question is how were you diagnosed? Did they swab a recent open lesion or did they take blood and perform a Hsv igg blood test?
Actually, the odds are higher that it's from your current partner. If you were swab tested positive and are still IgG antibody negative for herpes, then you can confirm that this is indeed a new infection. If you only had symptoms just recently, you can have the IgG test done asap, if not already (antibody production can potentially start reaching detectable levels after a month)
