Fragmen is an injection used to prevent post op dvt . It is a low molecular weight heparin used prophylactically

Thank you, Angela! Yes, I had an injectable blood thinner, too, for two weeks. Glad Nell is done with it, as it is no fun to be sticking yourself!

I had to do them for 6 weeks twice .... marbled belly - I hated it but when I read about the problems with TED stockings .......

Wow 6 weeks mine was only for 28 days, not that they hurt but I just didn't like doing them.

Raining here today, so no walking out, so it'll have to be the 🚴 exercise bike instead.  Need some ☀️ back, like yesterday.

Yeahhh, it's so good to finish them. I had a few that didn't want to go in, occasional ones that stung but I really didn't mind the others I couldn't feel.biggrin I had 30. Still got some brusiing left, but that's going.

Congratulations Neil. I had 35 and now only 7 to go. TED's on for another 2 weeks though! The end is in sight though and small price to pay for free movement. Hope your recovery goes well. Jan

OH doesn't have the injections for his hip (he's on warfarin and TEDs) but I have lots of sympathy for you guys. A few years ago I was on the injections (called Lovenox in the US) twice a day for 6 months following a  pulmonary embolism. I did it because they were literally lifesavers but after a few months I had horrible sore lumpy bruises and was struggling to find places to inject that weren't already sore. Glad those days are over (and your days of injections will soon pass).

Hi Nell

Just finished 6 months on fragmin injections. Was really pleased to do so. Two weeks after my hair has begun to fall out. It seems like it's a withdrawal effect and not a side effect.  No one knows the answer why this has happened.  Also, there is no one to ask & only a couple of stories online.

I I hope you do not suffer the same fate. I'm wondering if it will grow back.
