Hard tummy weirdness!

I'm now 10 days post op and have been prescribed those lovely TED stockingss and daily injections of Fragmin since day 2. My tummy has become a bit hard and my poor partner's finding it hard to' pinch the necessary inch' even though there's plenty there!Has anyone else had this problem?

good morning patricia,

oh yeah, and not really looking forward to have to do them again .. please make sure that you don't rub the spot as this make bruises and not inject in bruises ...

apparently you can also inject in your thighs, which I did not know and did not do ...

how are you doing otherwise?

Take care and be gentle with your self ..

warm hug

Sounds as if you could be a bit swollen, which happens to various bits of the body. If that is so it should go down soon, if it is painful it might be as well to ring the surgery.

as to the injections, as had been said, don't rub the site and always use a new one. I had to do them for 5 weeks, alternated the side of the tummy daily. Got quite used to doing it!

Thanks Renee, looks like I'll just have to grin and bear it then!

Hi Patricia

Welcome to hippyland, hope you are sleeping well

Sorry about the TEDS stockings. injections  - had them at first hip op, but surgeon didn't use/prescibe them for second hip op. As you'll see from this forum, there is quite alot of variation in advice given!

So, no advice, but a hug, and good luck in recovery to being a happier bunny than you were a few months ago as aresult of the operation!

Hi Patricia,  just putting it out there that there are other options. I had to take Rivaroxaban for 30 days and no Teds. Every consultant has a different approach but there are alternatives to the injections. maybe talk to your GP.

Agree with Kate there are other options ( suspect it might be dowith cost!) I had/have tablets for 5 weeks and only had to wear Ted's whilst in hospital. Was told they changed from injections to tablets as patients were putting themselves at risk by not doing the injections.
