Rita I'll send you a personal message.
Know exactly how your feeling, took me 5 days to have bm,you need to increase movicol, you can have up to 6 a day. I ended up using a glycerol suppository as well which finallydid the trick.
This past Tuesday? It'll move soon, make sure you drink plenty water also. Upon release from hospital my doctor had me take magnesium and miralax every morning and a stool softener. I think it took me a few days to have BM because the pain pills had me blocked up. Give it a little while and if doesn't go then call doctor. Don't strain!! I even found that the warm water in shower with the hand held nozzle helped mine to come out. Try and relax!!
I had exactly the same thing as you and didnt end up having a bowel movement for 4 days. Keep taking the movicol I also took psyllium husk tablets which also helped me. I think the stress and trauma that the surgery causes to the body delays things even more and it will happen in next few days so dont worry too much. Also try to drink as much water as possible.
Also keep the fiber up in your diet.
Fibre is really good but sometimes it makes the stool more bulky and harder to pass.
Yeah that's true!! I had to do a low fiber and gradually move from there. I have to still watch what I eat to stay regular and not strain. For me red meat balls me up.
I am going to ask my son to get me a suppository from the chemist. I just cant stand it. I feel the desire to go so badly but its just not happening. I feel like I am going to faint
That's why I sent the pm. You need a solution tonight otherwise it could get worse. The reason why you'll feel faint is because the nerves in the bowel get restricted so you must lie down or sit comfortably in bed.
Hi,l just to say I know exactly how you feel, so many of us have been there.
Try to lie down as that alleviates it a bit..and relax , try not get too stressed about it ,keep on with the water yes and Movicol or similar. And dont worry..it is totally normal . I would recommend a suppository too as that will make something happen, even if not much, you will then feel things have started and some relief. In my hospital in London they made us have a suppository the day we left and checked we weren't too constipated. Do not strain whatever you do, better to take painkillers and lie down. It will all work soon. I remember this just two weeks ago , thinking I'll never be normal esp as I was often constipated before but now it seems like magic . Gradually your body adjusts and you will relax. Just eat the right foods, plenty of fruit, water, you might not need the supplements for long. Prunes are always good..and liquorice. Good luck. This nightmare will be over soon .
I was really worried about bowels so asked for a microlax enema before I left the hospital. This really helped with the first movement.
I wish I knew about this before as I do have a tendency to suffer constipation sometimes. I have just had the day from hell. I had to call my husband home to help me. I was sweating and so shaky after taking the supository. Trying to drink lots of water and then not being able to pee due the the bowel blockage. It took about 3 hours to work. I ended up vomitting and BM at the same time. Wont tell the other graphic details. But now I have a fair bit of blood in my urine. I am hoping some rest will help. Now I am a bit worried about what to eat to make sure my bowels keep going without having to do the same thing again.
Thank you will get prunes am drinking heaps but not very hungry at all. Have just had an apple today and 1 carrot.
Thank you !!!
I am very low in iron and I don't want to take iron supplements as they make you more constipated. I am just eat a very small amount of red meat tonight with a load of vegies.
I live in Australia, is it just a magnesium supplement and what is miralax, perhaps like movicol?
I had rectocele surgery, vaginal suspension and a hysterectomy less than a week ago. I was told to start stool softeners the day I got home. They must have given me some in the hospital because the day I got home I already had a BM. No issues, no pain! I highly suggest getting off pain pills, I took one! I had hardly any pain to deal with, just a little cramping. I can only imagine what you are dealing with, I expected issues and didn't have any. I had read too to put your feet on a small stool when you do go, I helps! Good luck!
Hi Pam, I had the same as you and I've found prunes, plenty of water and the step in the loo is an absolute god send!my physio explained it really well and said that when your feet are on a stool it gets your bowel in the right position as it straightens it out if that makes sense!good luck
Just letting you all know that I am feeling much better thank you all.
