Has anyone tried TMS for pain relief

Hi all, I watched this amazing TV program on my IPAD this morning, all about pain, and they talked about, using TMS, transcranial magnetic stimulation, for pain relief. I wondered if any one has any experience of it and how useful it might be. I am going to ask my specialist at my next meeting about it. The beauty of it seems to be, it can just target the part of the brain controlling the pain and therefore there are no yucky side effects, like those we get from the delightful drugs, they want to stuff down our throats.

Warm hugs to all and hope you have a wonderful Wednesday (great alliteration).

I have a TENS machine I use..it's great...I haven't heard of that one, will be really interested to hear from others too, if ..I'm going to google it..thanks Meg..soooo much helpful info on this..be blessed..have a lovely day :-) xxx

Hi Christine, how useful is the TENS machine? Secondly can you buy them over the Internet? xxx

Just sent you a message about this.xxx

morning meg I havnt heard of this hun it sounds very interesting, and much better than taking drugs, Im going to have a google on it, thank you for sharing that with us meg enjoy your day take care gentle hugs xxsmile

Hi Meg, I use a magnetic back support when I know I will be standing a lot and it really does help. I bought it from ebay. So magnets must be helpful some how.

I didn't find a Tens machine useful personally but my neighbour has one for his Shingles pain and he finds it useful.  hugs x

Yes it's very good...you cab buy anything on ebay?? I bought mine along with a circulation booster from a pharmacy, I also have a sauna at home..soo good for Fibro pain.,it has infrared lights so it goes right where it's needed...and ionic lights too..Xx

I have a couple of Tens Machines but I never got any real benefits from them sadly.  I think I still have them in my draw at home..   I'd be very interested in 'A home Sauna'  My grandmother used to have one.  It wasn't the coolest looking of things and was quite large. She'd set it up in her lounge and sit in it for what seemed an eternity!  hahaha

She used to always have an Artisian Cold Water shower first thing in the morning, reckoned it was good for the health...  (bwahhhh .. I never thought so!)...  You have to be conditioned to handle having Artisian Cold anything in my book!!!

Thanks, will investigate.xxxx

Does sound interesting not sure whether it is still experimental or whether approved in UK. Though it seems they have used it on patients in UK.xx

Sad about the tens machines, don't you hate it when you buy stuff and then they don't work for you. I would so like a sauna and a large spa bath. Dreaming is free.

Interesting maybe Tens work for some and not others. Magnetic back support sounds interesting, so glad it works for you, I will investigate.

Its definitly worth looking into Im going to have a google in a bit. we are an informative lot and helpful supportive to each other hope all have a good day well as best we can gentle hugs to meg and all xx take good care of yourselves xx

I like your dream meg can I join in your dream tooo its better than the terrifieing dreams Ive had of late x

Please join my dreaming. Your dreams sound horrible, do you have access to a counsellor, who can help you find out what is going on in your subconscious.x

Hi Meg, thanks for the info.  Haven't heard of this process but as others have said will definitely research it online.  The idea of magnets to relieve pain has however been around a long time.  I bought some bracelets at a craft fair or similar some years back in the hope of relieving my thumb joints arthritis pain.  Everyone was extolling their virtues but unfortunately they did nothing for me.  They weren't high cost and were quite attractive just as bracelets but the magnet theory didn't fulfil its promise.  This TMS you mention seems to be a step forward however and certainly worth investigating.  Thanks hon.

I've done with meds, nothing works and all of them cause more problems than they solve.  I've ditched the lot.  This of course means I have days of disaster - constant pain and when the fatigue hits it wipes out not just by body but my brain too, it's an uphill struggle even to speak to anyone.  Not figured out yet whether the pain itself causes the fatigue and the fatigue causes the brain black out or if they're all unrelated symptoms, just know when it hits I feel like a 90 yr old not a 60 yr old and given that there is no physical illness to cause it, add into the mix total frustration at not knowing why this is happening, I'm not a happy bunny at times.  The weariness of dealing with this constantly is probably the most life inhibiting factor, I'm sick to death of being sick, if that makes sense smile

Hi Meg I dont have a counsellor, I once went to hypnotherapy what came out was to do with my dad, and a boyfriend. I lost my dad when I was 2 half he died aged 42 from aheart attack, I cant remeber anything about him. my mom use to go on at me saing I had let him down. as I had 2 children out of wedlock that if he had been a live he wouldnt of been pleased I wouldnt of been able to have them. just going on at me how much I had let him down. The hypnotherepist brought all this out I just felt so bad thinking I had let him down. where my boyfriend was concerned he died suddenly I felt gulity as the last time we saw each other we rowed, why Im having these nighmares about my dad I dont know their upsetting me and frightening me their that bad. x

just tried googling tms what came up was test match  speciallol will have another try xx

My biggest dream is a Spa Pool, or larger heated pool..  Need a HUGE LOTTO Win lol..
