Has this happened to you?

Hi all, can someone please help me to shed some light.

First of, I'd like to give some idea of the types of things thats happen to me on occasions:

- Anemia;

- Partial blindness in the corner of my right eye;

- Difficult to see bright colours such as reds and greens and especially on a whiteboard;

- White or black dots appear in my vision;

- Headaches.

I've recently began taking Iron Melts to help with my anemia (Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 & Vitamin C).

This is the only 'dietry' change I've made to myself, and since then, I've been feeling "icky."

It began today, when I was sitting at my desk at work, looking down at my lapton screen. I noticed that my eyes weren't able to focus on the screen, I then noticed that my eyes werent turning right, they would only turn left. Finally, I noticed that my vision became partially blurred.

When the above cleared up, I began feeling dizzy and (nausic <-- ?)

I'm still feeling a little icky, but my eyes have cleared up. Can anyone please help me out, I want to understand whats just gone on.

I drink plenty of water everyday

I don't drink alcohol or do drugs

I do have an occasional cigarette (socialising)

I don't eat in excess, I only eat if I'm hungry - I like to balance my diet between healthy and one fatty food a week

I'm slack on the exercise, too busy

I work in an office on laptops (9-5)

That's basically an overview of my lifestyle.

Do you have a story like mine? I'd like to hear about it, and maybe shed some light on whats just occured, thank you all in advance.

Hi Hara, have you actually discussed this with a doctor, or have you  been self medicating?

If you are staring at a screen all day, it is likely that you have dry eyes, for which you can buy 'artificial tears'.  I use Liquifilm because they suit me.  The dots are called 'floaters' and they are debris from old cells.  This could be nothing or it could be a sign of inflammation

Cigarettes and eyes don't mix.  Cigarettes and anything don't mix.

You speak as though you have self prescribed the vitamins etc..  You ought to consult your doctor rather than self medicate.

Hiya, thank you for your response.

Sorry if that didn't sound right, my family has a history of anemia, and my parents both wear glasses.

I've seen my GP who said I was anemic, and he suggested taking Iron tablets. The Iron Melts is what I've chosen to take.

Will look more into dry eyes, thank you again.

Hi Hara, I concentrated on the bottom half of your post the other day.  You ought to see an Ophthalmologist regarding the partial blindness because if there is anything serious, the sooner you see someone the better.

Going back to the dry eyes, does your office have air con?  That is notorious for causing dry eyes.  I worked in a control room some years ago and we had to have a humidifier because the air con removed all the moisture from the air and there were a lot of us working there.

Be wary of overdosing yourself on the iron and vits..

Hiya, yes our office has air cons all over the place - will look into it more, thank you smile
