Headache, dizziness, and neck pain

Hi michlle, I know this post is a week old but I wondered if you could tell me what dose of amytriptyline you have been successful with. I too have tried at least 10 preventative meds to no avail. Also did you suffer from any side effects? Thanks.

Thanks Shari, I wish you luck too..very frustrating feeling thats for sure...especially when you "just want to get better" and be "normal"...

Hi Michelle.

i know your post is over a year old. I'm hoping you still get this message.

My husband has been suffering for 2 years with similar symptoms to you. He's had an MRI brain scan and a sinus scan. All fine. Slightly inflamed polyps in his nose.

He gets headaches, dizziness where he feels he's going to fall over, neck & shoulder pain & ear pressure.

He's been to ENT. He's had antibiotics, nasal sprays & washes, but still his symptoms are there. Some days are so much worse than others.

i just want my husband back. He's just not himself.

He really needs to speak to the doctor again, as he doesn't have an ENT follow up appointment until November.

Maybe he should mention these conditions. They have checked his ears though.

They just don't seen to know what it is.

I really hope you are still feeling okay.

Jo x

I am so glad I found this site.

So many of you are mentioning identical symptoms as my husbands.

I feel for you all, as I know what my husband is going through.

Unfortunately, he has not found a cure. He's very lethargic, whereas he was always on the go.

He works as a security officer in a busy shopping mall and never takes a sick day, no matter how awful he feels.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Tiny.

I think that is the most frustrating thing. Not having a diagnosis or getting a cure.

My husband hates feeling this way almost daily. It affects us both.

Hi Tiny.....I had a stiff neck for 9 yrs, with Vertigo.... I would suggest you try these few tips as I have..... Buy yourself....... Industrial-Hemp-Oil, you can find it in most health shops, safe to consume, take two table -spoons per/day an hour before bed........Next, roll a pillow out off towel's till you have a Dia of about 4'' - 6'' dependent on your shoulder hight, tie it with tape or cable ties.....trial and error.... Must be firm.... Next, Stop eating Cereal's, Oats, Muesli, Mielie meal,  bread, and sugar...It will take about 4-8 days to lift....It will get much better the longer you stick to it, .... once you feel better try a cereal for three to four days...If it come's back, stop the Cereal's.....I found all three,  key to relief....especially the Hemp-oil....

Any joint pain or sinus drainage or nose bleeds?  If sinuses are really inflammed like chronic allergies, you may want to check for vasculitis which can go undiagnosed... ANCA/autoimmune test.   It can affect ears, sinuses, joints, etc.  The ENT totally missed it with my Dad.    If just sinus pressure or heaviness only in that area, may not be the case.  Maybe worth checking out though!   I similar the same dizzy and stiff neck issues from posture problems.

Jo, I have similar symptoms where the dull ache originates at base of skull on the left and radiates up and around to the eye.  I'm making an appt on Monday.  Any news on your husband?

Hi all. I have suffered from these symptoms for the past three years. I also get a sort of brain fog. One medication that I have found really helps is promethazine. I am guessing it helped because it is an anti-histamine that also helps with nausea.

Has anyone else tried this before and found it helps?

I have been having these same symptoms, Andy ha Dari , dr just told me that I have herniated and ruptured disk with none spurs and narrowing at the end of c3-4 c5-6, and that ''tis isn't what is causing my migraines, have to see a surgeon.hope this helps might give you idea?

And my Dr,

With bone spurs , sorry my comp. keeps changing my words.

Hey guys. I've just come across this post whole searching the net. I suffered with aniexty for years now and have learnt my own ways of controlling my symptoms but yes neck pain and headaches r a normally symptom. Also my ear starts ringing and my throat goes tight and breathless it normally last most the day for me but I have my own little way of cintrolling them and it might help u it might not.

Headaches : put a frozen bag of peas on ur head for 5 mins untill it's almost a unbearable discomfort (like brain freeze) take off leave for 2 mins then respeat and keep doing so untill headache is gone or relived. Another thing that helped me as cutting out my caffeine completly witch has limited my Headaches to twice a week instead of everyday.

Neck pain: purposly try to click ur neck it will help to relive the pressure. Applying something warm can also help. Also stand in ur door way put both ur hand on either side of the door frame beside u and lean forwards while holding the door frame. Try arms bend nd arms straighten behind u. This will help stretch the muscles in ur neck and sholders and reliebe the pressure. If u have a hubby or bf then a good massage also helps lol 😁 hope this helps good luck x

Can I ask what specialist you saw to have that diagnosed and what tests they did? (MRI/XRay etc) Thank you.

I'm both alarmed and relived to have found this thread as I too have been sufering with chronic daily headaches, fatigue, dizzyness, stiff neck and pressure in the ears for over a year (relived that I'm not the only one suffering, and alarmed at how many other sufferes there are).

As others have mentioned, I have tried to avoid medication becuase I don't want to "mask" the problem but rather treat the root cause. That being said, I feel like I have wasted an incredible amount of money chasing different types of physio therapy, chiropractors and other means to rid me of these symptoms, to no real avail. The worst part about this condition is the constant "thinking about it" that is just so hard to escape from (and ultimately makes it worse)

Now we're a couple weeks away from a new year I can't help but feel even more anxious at the thought of entering yet another year with the symptoms still haunting me... and ofcourse, that only adds to the tension and stress. I've also been off work for most of the year which has only added to the anxiety.

I have had MRI's/Xrays etc but I have found dealing with doctors to be frustrating (I won' go into that now) - they have collectively agree that I am suffering from Vestibular Migraines and I'm starting to come around to the idea of using medication as a final resort to control the pain and find a way out of the "circle of pain".

Can anyone offer any insight into which medication has helped them? Like eberyone else, I just want to be "normal" again.

I too have been suffering headache pain, I have been taking Gabapentin 300mg. The Neurologist thinks my headache is from my occipital nerve. So I am going to get a shot of steroids in that muscle located back of head lower left side. Hoping that it works.

Hi there Gambini. How do you feel now? I came across to this site bcuz i too suffer dizziness, headache, neck pain. It started when i have cold last month plus i wear in ear phone thot i got the dizzy spells bcuz of the ear phone. I had stop using in ear phone but the waving dizziness its still there, i also feel pressure on my temple. Last month i got panic attack bcuz i think of my symptoms a lot im scared, i havent done any test yet only blood test which came out my white blood count is high. Maybe i had some infection? Its just feel a little better that im not alone struggling this situation. Hope you will responds me.

Did the gabapentin work for you? Did you have any side affects from it?

Hi ayzzie... it does seem that panic attacks and anxiety go hand in hand with this condition. I too, a very confident person usually, have become a nervous wreck constantly worried about my symptoms. Of course, that only makes the symptoms worse so it is a vicious circle.

I tried propronol which definitely helped stop the headaches from coming on, but unfortunately it made the dizzyness and vertigo unbearable. Propronol causes a reduced heartbeat which, if you already have a lower than average heart rate, will cause all sorts of side effects. Unfortunately I had to stop taking it after a few days and headaches came back with a vengeance.

This Christmas has been miserable for me as I've had a constant thumping headache and nobstop dizziness. It really makes you feel self conscious as you're aware how much symptoms affect those around you too.

Utterly horrible condition, what ever it is :-(

Oh im sorry to hear that, me too i not feel my christmas just pass away like ordinary day bcuz i feel dizzy, head pressure the whole day. I just lie down cannot do anything. How long do you feel that way? I hope others have feel same way here could give ask some info about it. I just thot about try some herbal medicine, about an hour ago i make some ginger tea to help some of my dizziness good it alleviate some i feel a little better now. Do you have feel symptoms constant? I have been weary a little to go see ent or neurologist bcuz i have read it all here and other website similar problems that most doctors could not find the cause or go into bottom of it plus i live in philippines i think other country is much hi technology when it comes to medical stuffs. If you find more info about it please let me know. Anyway thanks for the respond.☺
