hi, can someone give me a bit of advice on my heart. A couple months ago i recently starting geting a tight pain down the left side of my neck and it would feel weird when i squeeze it as if a nerve was tensing in my neck and it was going right up past my ear and the pain would occasionaly spread to my arm. Also at the same time i was suffering from vertigo where it felt as though the floor was dropping. However this went away for 2 weeks and last week in work i took a drink and i suddenly felt as though the ground was dropping again and heart pain and the tightness in my neck came back, also when i go to sleep at night i keep jumping as though my whole body is shaking and i keep falling in class and jumping because im always tired. i am also getting eye twitches and cheek twitches. i went to my gp and he told me my heart rate and blood presure is fine but im scared ncase there is an underlining issue, i do suffer from health anxiety but however on this occasion im frightned incase its not as i do eat a lot of salt. i am only 19 and a female and its stressing me in the time of my a-levels, would love a bit of adivce
First thing, have you been tested for any heart issues??? I see your gp said your heart rate and blood pressure were ok but was that the extent of your testing done or have you had things like ekg or echocardiogram or worn a heart monitor? If the answer to those is no, then I would suggest getting checked out to make sure your heart is ok but if you have been tested and told the results are good, then yes it is probably your anxiety. Anxiety can cause hundreds of physical symptoms, weird ones you might not even think could be anxiety, and chest pains and sensations are very common. I was diagnosed with anxiety over 20 years ago and feel like I am having a "heart attack" most days, along with a ton of other horrible symptoms. I am still here, my heart is still ok and they haven't missed anything...well at least not in the last 20 or more years anyway. If you aren't in therapy/counseling and don't have a psychiatrist, I would highly recommend seeing them. Once you are given the all clear with your heart, you need to start treating the anxiety and looking for ways that work for you to control your symptoms and ways to help you accept that it is anxiety and not some other horrible missed diagnosis. I wish you the best of luck!!!
yeah i was only given an ECG in the hospital the couple weeks ago when it started and everything appeared fine..but i think im gonna go back and get more done and if its all been my mind then im going to ask to see someone as this is terrible even right now its hard to sleep because im scared incase it is a heart problem.. i also ordered a pulse oximeter of ebay so i hope that arrives soon also. Thank you so much for yo adivce really really needed it
