Past day or so I've had really bad stomach pains lower right that's the worst but hurts all over, fatigued legs, light headed and head ache, nausea, and fever doctor said it seems like gastrointestitis or however it's spelt or just a normal stomach bug that has flaired up badly, I've been sleeping alot but been waking up every hour or two sweating and takes me a good 30 minutes to drift off again, I haven't noticed any changes in my heart while ive been ill until I went doctors my heart rate was 152. when I was in the room with him he checked it and said it was 130s and he didn't think anything of it. Normal resting 55-65. Sitting 70ish. Standing shoots up to 110 120 then falls to high 90s when I standing still and goes up to 130-140when walking. Had 3 ecgs recently all normal. Events monitor to record heart for a week. Haven't had results back yet but I've never had anything like this before. Now it's 115 and I'm lying down and been sleep since I've been back from doctors. It's been really high since I've been doctors.. or It could of been high since I've been ill but haven't noticed till this morning when i had a panic attack? Should I be worried? I suffer from anxiety attacks quite often but usually only goes upto 120bpm.. this is new in the last two days. Not eaten due to poor appetite since I've been ill. I'm 21 year old male. 12stone 2 6ft 1. Give me some help guys. I've also spoken to 111 for advice and theey also didn't think it was serious but surely a high heart rate for a long time and even when sleeping isn't good.
Sounds like anxiety and panic attacks to me I am also having some symptoms of panic attacks and anxiety can't seem to shake it off horrible stuck in my room all day too scared to go anywhere
Josh - your age and the fact that you have had clear ECGs rules out heart issues.
The fact that you are having several other symptoms points towards anxiety which is being triggered by your heart rate observations. Suggest you consult a psychiatrist or psychologist for some advice.
In fact my anxiety started with worry about my heart health and worsened into a full fledged hypochondria.
I would also recommend some yoga and breathing exercises which are available on YouTube.
Hope that helps.
I'm sorry to hear that Neil. I'm exactly the same. I've only recently got the nerve to go doctors but it always makes things worse. I spend most hours in my room talking to friends on PlayStation which gives me something to be happy and laugh about which helps me not over think about anything. Idk how bad I would be if I Were alone. Dread to think. Scared of going for a 10 minute walk incase I have a panic attack or worse a heart attack
That's for your help and advice. I started out with depression and anger issues. Now I'm very timid and very anxious. I guess it's worse right now because I've never had a prolonged high heart rate before usually settles down quickly but I guess my doctor would of said something if he thought It was bad.
I had this a little over a week ago for 5 days.
My normal resting heart rate is mid 60’s
But during the 5 days it was between mid 80’s to 130.
I was in ER numerous times and each time they said panic attacks.
But it didn’t make sense to me because after panic attacks my heart rate would go back down this time it didn’t. It stayed high.
Heart racing, flutters, didn’t eat for 4 days. Didn’t really get out of bed.
Then all of the sudden after 5 days. I felt better.
Certainly sounds normal. If you've been fighting a bug your heart will be working harder to pump blood/work your immune system to fight it off.
Plus anxiety does tend to raise the heart rate. On average mine can be anywhere between 89 to 120 just resting and I get spikes through out the day. I decided to stop monitoring my HR after getting ecgs, seeing a cardiologist and dr's all telling me my pulse was normal. It was just stressing me out more.
I agree with you! My doctor suggested that there is a reason it is called the autonomous nervous system. We have to let it function on its own. If we direct concious thought towards it we are interfering with its functioning.
