I finally went to the dr because I am in so much pain. At first the bumps were itchy and kind of burning like razor burn. I stupidly shaved 3 days in a row so was expecting burn and ingrown hairs. I ended up with around 30 bumps and plucked a hair from every single one. They got super aggravated and painful. Stinging when I move and just all around painful if I wear underwear/clothes. Dr looked and right away said it was herpes bc I have open sores. Did a swab (very painful by the way) and now I wait. I know the pic looks awful (it feels awful, believe me) but any chance it could be something else? I did have a lot of sex the two days before these showed up so I thought my skin was aggravated by shaving, rubbing skin and sweat! Oh and it also burns like a mother when I pee and the lymph nodes in my groin (both sides) have been extremely sore and sometimes even painful.image
It looks like it could be bacterial folliculitis (google it). But as some of the sores are cratered it looks like it could be herpes also :( your other symptoms sounds like herpes as well if your lymph nodes are up. Was it sex with a new partner? The virus can get in the skin easier if it is broken which would be likely if you shaved 3 times in a row. Wishing you the best of luck
Thank you. Yes it was with a new partner. I thought folliculitis as well and that I had a uti. Guess I'll know soon enough.
yes ... this guy i was talking too gave me herpes .. i got swabbed but waiting on my results but i know its herpes .. i started off with a few sores and now i have soooooo many and i cant go to the bathroom without it feeling like i have glass coming out ... i have a swollen lymph node also and i am in so much pain its unbearable .. but everything you just said is me also and how i feel.. this is the first outbreak for me and i was clean .. i am so sad and i dont have insurance right now so cant get meds .. but i have to take a bath when i pee cause it somehwhat helps with the pain when i pee .. ive never felt this pain before and idk what to do.. youre not alone
Wow I'm so sorry. I use a water bottle and pour it on myself while I pee. I was dreading having to go each time. The sores are more painful than I could have imagined. I don't have coverage either and ended up paying $140 last night for anti-viral meds and cream. You aren't missing anything lol. None of it has helped so far. I too have been clean up until this point. I'm here hoping it's a misdiagnosis and is not herpes (wishful thinking).
Pls what's the name of the meds and the cream? Do you have to apply the cream in your genital area?
Yes you apply it to the bumps. The cream is Acyclovir 5% and pills are Valacyclovir.

i got prescribed the meds but i heard it dont realy help... i bought an essential oil called melissa from young living because i heard it works.. i got that first... i use vaseline when i pee.. and it helps but its super painful and if i dont have the vaseline i cant take the pain.. and i all day i hope i dont have to pee .. but i know its coming .. i hope my test comes out negative but i think its herpes cause of the pain and i mean theres sores all over the place.. well i hope your tests comes back negative and its something cureable ...
The meds and cream have not helped. Oh man I was dreaded going pee as well. It is less painful now though. I really hope it isn't herpes and that we both just have a horrible rash/inflammation.
yah it feels like razors are coming out its horrible.. last night i tried cold water while i pee instead of warm .. and wow i felt better .. it still hurt after but not as much.. and yes i get my results this week and im scared but for me i know its herpes .. but hey maybe just maybe it wont be .. so depressing though.. and thank you
I hope it isn't!! I can pee just fine now thankfully. Pouring water def helped!! I really feel mine is folliculitis or some sort of skin infection. Even the pattern of bumps is exactly the direction and area I shaved. My doctor is supposed to be calling today. Nervous. I just want answers.

UPDATE... My doctor just called. He said results take about 10 days but from what I explained to him he said it sounds like razor burn. He said testing is NOT reliable and Canadian OHIP no longer covers the blood tests. He said not to worry and to think of it as razor burn. IF I get it again to come right in and he will look at it. He said that is more reliable than getting tested, even if you do get a positive test result. So basically it sounds like testing is really off and unreliable and also that it isn't such a big deal.
One more thing. It has only been 5 days and it is almost 100% cleared up. Doesn't sound like herpes.
