Help with IGG results PLEASE

i had unprotected sex back in March( the 1st). a few days later i had the discharge and blisters on my bikini line.ive also had possible outbreaks since then but none that really look like anything ive seen in this forum. i got tester yesterday. so its been 17 week (more than 3 months) since possible exposure.

im shocked and confused because my igg blood tedt results just came back as :

<0.91

negative: <0.91
eqivuivocal 0.91 - 1.09
positive > 1.09

i expected to be a for sure positive especially by this point. im still waiting on swab results. can someone please help me understand.

thanks for any help

hi ok some questions : did you take antivirals? did a doctor confirm diagnosis with a swab? did you receive oral sex? have you ever had a cold sore?

thanks for the response.

no anti virals before testing. they only prescribed them to me yesterday in case results come back positive.

still waiting on swab. just find that super weird for how much time has passed.

no oral.

no cold sores.

perfect take a deep breath if you havent taken them dont wait 12 weeks after exposure and take the test i could reccomend you trying another lab and getting a specific igg do you know how to get it? it could be a false positive i read on a study by terri warren that persons from asia and africa have different proteins that could be picked up best of luck and keep us posted

yea but its not giving me positive. and i stated that it has more than 12 weeks since exposure. it has been 17 weeks!

im just confused because i feel like i was having symtpoms and im surprised that my igg results are that low. i was at least expecting a false positive.

if you did not receive oral sex it cant be hsv 1 so that leaves hsv 2 and the igg is 92 % acurrate so you have two choices take it as it is and you are negative get the western blot by your description or atipical symptoms no cold sores or oral sex and 17 weeks test is acurrate keep this in mind talk to terri warren in weatover heights she is the leading expert in herpes best of luck

Hello, did you get tested for both type 1 and 2? because HSV-1 can be passed on to the genitals and spread that way as well. It doesn't only stay in the mouth.

17 weeks is pretty conclusive for a bloodtest but the swabs are the most accurate. It's showing that you have an index value of less than 0.91 which means you're negative. Hang on tight for your swab results. Well wishes to you.

hello Tass,

do you know what ways hsv1 is spread to genitals (outside of oral sex)? google answers are not clear at all

you're negative for now until you get the swab results. if that is negative, then you're actually negative and should stop worrying so much.

HSV-1 can be spread from mouth to mouth, mouth to genitals, genitals to mouth, and genitals to genitals.

update

swab came back negative too. for some reason my results only list HSV 2. im assuming since i only came in with genital problems thats why they did it that way??? im kind of upset because if you already have my blood and swab why not do both? major facepalm im going to call PP when they open and iniqure about this.

but other than that, im not currently sexually active so im just going to keep an eye out for anything else and test again if i have another recurrence and make sure that they include BOTH types smh. thanks for all the help guys!
