I was at the doctor this week with back pain and she did my blood pressure which was high I felt (150/91 I think) - The doctor did note "it was a little high today" but didn't seem overly concerned but I don't think I've ever had high blood pressure, I am late 30's, lean and fit/active. Could this be due to a sustained period of anxiety I've been having during lockdown? I have been worrying about my aches and pains consistently and feel I also have a sensation under my armpit but again not sure if it is anxiety playing tricks or not?! She has taken some bloods to rule out things with my back issue - anyone have any blood pressure experience with anxiety, I'm now wondering if it was a one off or not which is creating more worry! :(
i wouldnt worry about that personally. I went to the doctors for anxiety and they tested my blood pressure and it was quite high it's related to the anxiety you're having over lockdown.
Stress and Anxiety contributes to High Blood Pressure.. I am the victim of it.. I used to get readings about 130+ and 87+ .. I started meditation , modified my diet and seems I am in kind of in the range of 115-125/79-85
I also learnt during these days that 140/90 is a good range but there is a conspiracy theory about reducing limit of 140/90 to 120/80 to get more customers to sell meds.
Here is what I am following for 2 months now : - Limit your sodium / salt intake - No sugary drinks , control your sugar as well - Eat as much as Salad , fruits 2-3 times a day ( well I became like a goat now :) ) - Install Headspace app or join any yoga meditation community and practice it regularly - Exercise 30 minutes a day ( brisk walk ) .
Good Luck..
What medicines do you take? I was on Lexapro for 2 years and quit because it wasn't as effective and cause me a sustained rise in HBP.
Hi all - thanks for replies. Yeah I am thinking it is perhaps due to me having prolonged periods of anxiety during all this but now it has worried me a bit, and the last thing I want with high BP is more worry and anxiety! But always that niggle of what if something is wrong... :(
I am not on any meds currently.
I have a BP monitor at home from my wife's pregnancy so gave it a go last night and this morning but the readings vary so much?! My doc said if taking it myself to get a couple of readings as a check but they seemed so far apart so ended up taking 4 this morning and they were, in order: 116/74 137/73 150/75 129/76
I appreciate it will fluctuate all day but does anyone have any thoughts on that? Got myself worried about it tbh...!
