I am 10 weeks out and just got his week experiencing some hip pain when walking. After 8 weeks I was pain free, but now 2 weeks later having pain when I walk. I have begun to walk on my treadmill again. Maybe it’s too soon? Just wondering what others have experienced post 10 weeks after hip replacement surgery.
Hi michelle,
I expect you are doing a little too much. When I over do it I can feel it in the hip. Even now at 23 weeks I can feel aches etc, when I do something my hip does not like. I went line dancing last tuesday, first time in years, my hip let me know I had done more than usual. Just pull back a bit.
At 8 weeks now, and back at the gym, I have been walking consistently well right from the start.
Stairs test 40 hours after the operation (day 2)
One mile outside on day 7
Three miles outside by day 12
Five miles outside by day 25
Back to gym workouts by day 48 (treadmill, rowing, leg curl, leg extensions, abduction, squats, chest press, vertical traction, cycling)
BUT, we are all different, we all heal at different rates.

Hi Michelle, I too am 10 weeks post op and my hip generally feels pretty good. But I do get some pain unexpectedly, every now and then. Usually it’s when I’m over doing it. Sometimes the pain is the day after I do to much. Then I have days where there is very little pain. I would say on average I live with low grade discomfort. Maybe slow down a bit and if you’re able, take Aleve or whatever is acceptable pain meds for you. I wish you a good recovery.
