I am struggling to lose weight with fatty liver - is this normal?

I go to WW every week and it has taken me ages to lose one stone but i have a lot more to lose.  I weighed in last night and only lost half a pound whch i couldn't understand as i am trying very hard watching what i eat etc i do also try and excercise but i have to admit it has fallen by the wayside over the last few weeks but i will try and get back on the wagon with the excercise.  My question is - is it harder than normal to lose weight when you have fatty liver?

How often do you eat and when?  I recently re started the food lovers fat loss system after having fallen off it for a while myself and have lost almost 15 lbs in 3 months.  The thing is with fatty liver is if you loose too much too quick it can actually cause more problems.  the main points of the system is to eat every 2-3 hours, include a protein with every meal/snack, keep snacks under 300 cal and drink lots of water.  It's hard to believe but eating more does make you loose weight.  I was very skeptical until it started working.  I never ate breakfast and sometimes never ate until mid afternoon.  This screws up your metabolism.  I started eating breakfast, having my snacks and it has really helped.

Yes I too have heard with fatty liver if you lose too much too quickly is not good although not sure why.  As I am doing the WW pro points system I have 26 daily points plus weekly amount of 49.  I have slacked a bit on the excercise front so this week have upped my excercise and hope I get a pound or two loss next week.  I am not snacking in between meals, just 3 meals a day making sure I stick to my points.  I have cut back on carbs and sugar too.

Sugars and starchy foods (sugar in disguise) cause fatty liver.  Eliminating these is the key.  Check carbs in foods you have doubts about by googling "carbohydrates in ....".  I stick to less than 9gms in 100gms.

If you are strict at home, you can then be 'polite' when someone puts a piece of homemade cake in front of you. lol

Try to have a protein breakfast, and protein with all meals, even snacks.  It is similar to paleo diet but with dairy if you like it.  Seeds, nuts and good oils all good, but grains are starchy.  I do have to have a piece of toast with my egg in morning though - I find bergin soy and linseed best, but otherwise find the seediest bread possible.  More seeds, less starch.

There are some amazing cauliflower 'potato' replacement recipes on the internet too.

I have a friend who has been with WW for most of her life now and never loses weight.  I don't think their diet works with fatty liver, as it seems to allow starches.
