Hi I am teenage male,
I have had anxiety in the past and have had to see several psycologists.
I am absolutely terrified that I have a Brain tumor.
I have had headaches for about 2 years. After the first month I went to the doctor and he said I was fine.
I returned to the doctor about a few weeks later. At this time I was starting at a new school and he said it was the stress of that causing tension headaches and he was 100% certain I was fine.
I also have ringing in my ear, occasional dissiness, occasional blured vison in the corner of my eyes. My headaches occur on both sides of my head and around my eyes and forhead sort of near my eye brow. I play alot of sport and I am active.
9 months after I had seen this doctor the headaches and all other symptoms virtually disappeared for 2-3 months. They have been on and off throughout the year between now and then.
They seemed to have come back a bit now and I know the doctor says I'm fine and so do my parents and I do all this sport and they don't stop me but I still think I have a tumor.
I am so scared and I am unsure about an MRI because I am so scared that I will have a tumor. I don't know what to do.
I am extremely affraid and scared, I just discovered that ear ringing which I have developed and was unaware was a symptom, is a symptom of cancer.
Please help.
Hi Jeremy, please try and relax. Your symptoms do not sound at all like brain tumor. You have had these headaches for a couple of years and if you had a tumor you would be very ill by now
I have had all of your symptoms including the headaches, Ringing in the ears which is called tinnitus , dizziness , blurred vision , all of those started for me when I was in my 20s. I thought I had some terrible disease also, but my doctor told me I was 100 percent fine. All of my symptoms were definitely due to stress and anxiety. On top of those symptoms I also had floaters in my eyes, extreme fatigue, numbness in tingling in my arms and legs and several more symptoms.
I am also a nurse and I can tell you that ringing in the ears can occur for many different reasons. You are most likely reading the worst case scenario. Millions of people have ringing in the ears and are very healthy people including myself. I actually know more people that have it then don’t have it. The most common reason is loss of tiny hair cells in the inner ear. nothing to worry about. It can also be caused by too much earwax, side effects from certain medications, exposure to law loud sounds, And many more. I have had it on and off for many years but eventually the brain tunes it out and you actually hardly hear it anymore.
all of your symptoms are extremely common with stress and anxiety! Just read some of the posts on here and you will see that is true. You can go ahead and get the MRI but don’t be surprised when it comes out perfectly normal. Just by the symptoms you are sharing which are identical to the ones I started having in my 20s, you are perfectly fine. You most likely just need some support for your stress .
I am now in my 50s and doing well. when I am under stress some of those symptoms will pop up. I then listen to some great meditations on YouTube for anxiety which really diminish or cause my symptoms to go away. Basically I just ignore any little symptom and it goes away on its own.
The more you think about all this, the more symptoms you will have and then the anxiety will peek again. Get some counseling for this. Listen to some mindfulness meditation on YouTube because what you need to do is relax your mind as much as possible. There’s a book called mindfulness that many people on this site are reading. It helps you gain control back from fear and anxiety and give you peace of mind. Then you will see your symptoms diminish and even possibly go away. Hang in there and take charge of yourself and your thoughts!
Hi Jan,
Thanks so much for your reply it really helped.
I have been trying to get into so mindfulness and meditation and I think it has been good.
I have seen counsellors before for anxiety and I am thinking of going back to one to reduce stress.
Thankyou!
Brain tumors are very rare. Keep that in mind. Your symptoms sound like anxiety as well as migraine related, which can cause allnof the symptoms you have mentioned above. Most people who have brain tumors especially after 2 years would be having int new seizures and other problems at this point.
