Hi everyone, not posted for a while but always read what yr all up to, just thought I'd share my latest news with you to motivate you to keep at it. I weighed myself this morning and am 3lbs away from my 7 stone loss, it's taken me 18 months of tears pain and determination but I am feeling the best I have ever felt and looking forward to the future, I have not done yet I never had a goal in mind and didn't over analyse everything just do what feels right. I've never counted a calorie or forbidden any food, you have to make a lifestyle change don't think of it as a diet! Good luck and keep at it! :-) mm x
that is fantastic minniemouse,
I agree with everything you say, the only time I have successfully lost any weight the people advising me have always told me not to treat it as a punishment.
My nurse this time round is realistic and knows that it's not productive to tell people you can never have chocolate/alcohol/sweets/cakes and she doesn't try to, her advise is try and only have those sort of things on special occasions and be honest with yourself about it, if you eat high fat high calorie foods you will put on weight in the long run.
thanks for sharing your weight loss it just goes to show that it's not impossible
Ah thank you and absolutely right you are, as soon as you forbid something you want it, but as you see the weight coming off you just choose not to have it, and that is the truth, I set myself small goals and had little rewards when I got there, only drawback is I'm spending a fortune on clothes and one regret is I never done it years ago? But am looking forward now not back! Good luck and well done to you suza, mm x
WELL DONE !minniemouse You are truely inspirational You are so right about not forbidden foods. I do calory count most of the time as my nurse asked me to eat between 1200 and 1500 calories which means i'm usually well under the 30 grams of fat. I've been on the blueys since 13th April and have lost almost 2 stone, a long way to go but i'm using this journey to reeducate myself on what to eat and to eat more regularly. One of my problems was I wasn't eating often enough and not always making the right choices. I still have to gee myself up and remind myself to eat and not skip meals. I don't forbid myself of foods and treats but eat them less often and in smaller portions. I finding it much easier now I know what to look for from all the advice I've picked up off this site. I'm like you and don't believe it will work if you tell yourself you can't cake, chocolate or other high fat foods. This helps keep me going knowing I can look forward to a treat now and again and a meal without counting the calories or fat content, like the other meal I did have steak, chips etc,I didn't want a sweet, I didn't feel guilty was extra good before and after. I've been to several parties over the last few weeks and have found I scanned the buffet, ate what I wanted without going overboard, didn't feel like i'd missed out and danced to help get rid of the calories. Celebrations should be for celebrating not forbidding yourself of treats. I've faced up to the fact that my husband can eat high fat foods without putting weight on or effecting his cholestral level (i have told him it will catch up with him one day) and he has to stop apologising when he eats something I can't eat because it's not his fault that I have an underactive thyroid gland and it is my choice because I want to be healthier and slimmer. :D :D :D [/img]
well done mm you are an inspiration to us all, i love to read success stories and you certainly are one.
Tilly xx

Fantastic result mm... I'm really pleased for you - and really jealous! I hope in 18mths time I've got the same result.
Any good tips you've found particularly useful?
Hi doughball, it's been really hard and there are no easy fixes, even with the blueys you still have to do your part, my one piece of advice when anyone asks is simply \"eat less, move more\" I have three sensible meals a day and snack on fruit, my typical breakfast is either raisin and cinamon bagel and a banana or, weetabix or bran flakes, typical lunch at the moment is 4 ryvita with houmous and fruit and dinners are something like home made fajitas, spag bol, salad, stir fry or something similar and excersise I run 3 miles 3x a week cycle once a week and swim one mile twice a week. I am now taking just two tabs a day as I know that I can't take them forever and it's my way of getting confidence that I can maintain the loss and lose the last bit myself, I acknowledge the hardest part will be keeping the weight off but that's the lifestyle change bit, and I've got rid of all my fat clothes so can't go back. If I can help you through with encouragement or motivation I am happy for that, good luck to you on your journey. Mm x x
OMG ..MM... all that exercise - I feel puffed out just reading about it!
Have you done that much from the start or just worked up to it?
I've got about 9st to lose, and frankly until I've lost at least half of that I can't contemplate squeezing my body into a swimsuit or lycra!
I'd love to join a gym but at the size I am now I would be too embarrassed amongst all the skinnies.
For now I'm walking as much as I can (the dog is getting more exercise than she's ever had) and thinking about getting some exercise DVDs but not really sure what to go for - my boredom threshold is very low!
Lol doughball , no I didn't do that all straight away, when I first started I couldn't run for 3 minutes let alone 3 miles, and until one month ago I'd not been swimming for 16 years as like you the thought of a swimmng costume filled me with fear and the thought of someone seeing me even more dread, I started with walking and gradually built up to doing what I do now, problem is once you get the exercise going you get addicted to it and when I now can't do it I get grumpy :-( something to do with the endorphins that exercise releases, I also first used the wii fit but that's not enough now, davinas DVDs are good. I couldn't afford to join the gym and to this day haven't been in one, outside is free and better for you, you can do it! Mm x
