Is 1,200-1,500 calories too little for an 18 year old male?

Hello everyone, I have been eating this amount of calories for about 6 months and have lost 3 stone and a half. All is good, but I'm however getting irregular heartbeats (ectopic beats) and was wondering if I've been eating too little? and was wondring if this could be the cause of my heart palpitations?

I was rushed to A&E last week due to having these irregular beats, I had a blood test and a chest x-ray and the doctor said that everything is okay and that I shouldn't worry too much about these irregular heartbeats.

So to summarize, is eating this amount of calories dangerous for a male?  If so, could there be a correlation between this and my irregular heartbeats?

Additional information: exercise level is moderate, I cycle 3-4 times a week.

It does seem a little low for a male , download the my fitness pal app and it will calculate what your daily calories should be.normally when losing weight, you would gradually reduce your intake so that it is always linked to your age sex frame and weight at any given time. There are plenty of points of reference for your suggested calorie intKe. Even 1000 for a woman is not good for anything other than a  quick wright loss when there is little to lose. For long term success slow weight loss is best. Goodluck

I just did a quick calculation for you and got 1990 per day, as you are quite physically active, you may want to increase this accordingly probably start about 2400 and adjust as you lose weight. Aim for 1-2 pounds a week for long term sucess

Thanks for your reply Chris, just downloaded the app. It looks really useful, it's a very good way of keeping track of your calories. It's telling me that I'm well within the range if I want to lose 1and a half pounds to 2 pounds a week, which is what I've been doing.

Kind Regards
