I've had a full hysterectomy 6 weeks ago

ive recently had a total full hysterectomy 6 wks ago, I'm still off work for another 3 wks, but I feel so tired, more so than before I had it done is this normal, I find I haven't got much energy, the doctor has put me on HRT which is a gel, I'm afraid when I go back to work in 3 wks that I don't over do it, I work in a pub which involves lifting trays with glasses would this be ok to do. Many thanks

Hi.  6 wks is still young for recovery.  I am  3 months post op and still avoid much lifting.  You need to  ask you doctor if there is no danger when you get back to work having some lifts. Other people are easy to recover.   Just take it easy.  smile

I am also 6 weeks out from my hysterectomy. Yes, I get tired, I also have minor bleeding if I overdue it and my belly area is still uncomfortable. I was wondering if anyone else has the same issues. I thought I would be back to normal sooner.

Hi Delia thank you for your reply , I will contact my doctor, you take care too smile  xxx

Hi Judy thank you for replying, I don't get any bleeding but yes I get very tired too and yes I thought I would be back to normal, just take it easy ok xx

Hi Ann

I am 13 wks tvh and anterior repair.. I am 50 slim and otherwise healthy and even now I won't carry anything heavy than a tray with a plate on it.. It takes months to heal internally and the early months are paramount for strong scar tissue..

I would definitely not be carrying trays, glasses etc even at 13 wks.

The most important thing to be doing now is pelvic floor exercises.. These need to be done to strengthen up after surgery otherwise we will be back to the same state. I couldn't stress how important these are for us ladies with weak floors. Anymore questions just ask away. Rest and rest somemore.xx
