I’ve had breathing difficulties and a tickly throat and cough

can anxiety last for 5weeks straight everyday all day with breathing difficulties and tickly throat the doctor said it was anxiety but she only checked my lungs with a strethoscope abd my oxygen apparently all was fine.i really want a xray but dont want to go hospital really i just dont know what to do

Do you notice it when distracted? If not, its most likely anxiety, considering its been 5 weeks.

Everything important can be heard with a stethoscope. Anxiety can make you feel all sorts of crazy things and it has this special gift of making all our symptoms feel so real and so alive. It's a horrible cycle.

Yes, I have had chronic anxiety for decades. Anxiety is usually not something you get and then recover from in a week or two. If you do, it is probably not anxiety then unless you have situational anxiety and the situational improves.

mine was 99 when i saw the doctor a couple weekd ago

what you can have breathing difficuties with anxiety fir 5weeks all day everyday can you

it hasnt just come and goes in the 5weeks its been here for five weeks straight everyday all day

so the stethscope can hear if your lungs Are filling up with fluid cause thats what im worried about

How old are you?

22

Yes, absolutely. First of all you would feel like your drowning. Second, breathing would be very labored. Trust me you wouldn't be writing about it, if it was the case, you'd be too ill.

Hello Lee,

Breathing has been the focus of my anxiety for some time now. Its astounding how Ill we can make ourselves feel. I told myself I needed an xray to the point of sheer panic. I went to hospital and the did the x-ray, nothing wrong at all.

if you're really worried but (like me) are scared of going to hospital call NHS 111 they're really polite and have calmed me down on occasion. They can have you in if they feel they need to or they can give you some advice.

Also, listening to the chest tells a doctor a lot. Your blood saturation being normal is great.

Relax buddy and take it easy, feel well soon!

Are you starving air or hyperventilate? Any chest tightness or pain or buring sensation? Any GI issue? Is the symptoms worsen at night?

every breath just feels restricted tight throat airways chest no the breathing symptom just stays the same through out the day but yeah i cant really sleep cause of the breathing

Lee, it is important to note to these people trying to give you advice, that you ran 3 miles the other day without incident. Lets not turn this into a hours long Q & A without telling them all the details. These people are here by choice trying to help others with real world advice. You ran 3 miles and thats a lot more than most of us can run, so you are doing pretty well with your breathing if you can accomplish a 3 mile run. if your chest still hurts and your lungs are clear, consider seeing a pulmonologist or your own GP to see what they can do for you. Good luck

ive been going through the same exact thing for about 8 weeks now. chest pains and feel like i cant get a satisfying breath and the tickle in my throat that sometimes causes me to cause. ive seen 5 doctors which all have said its post nasal drip and anxiety. i have had chest pains and the breathing issues from anxiety before but never for this long but given the current circumstances ive been anxious non stop so that may be why the symptoms dont go away. im not a doctor but after seeing 5 doctors and a cardiologist im almost sure what you are experiencing is anxiety

@ age 22, I tend to agree then with what your doctor concluded after he examined you. IOW, this is probably anxiety rather than some physical organic problem. Here is something you might consider trying. Benzodiazepines are safe meds if you only take them for a very short period of time. I do not recommend them however for long-term management bc they are addictive as hell when used for long periods of time, chronically. If you have never taken them, take just .5 mgs of xanax once and see if all or most of your bothersome SX's abate. If they do, that will probably confirm your doctor's DX.

Best--

coolbreeze, did Lee tell you he ran 3 miles the other day? just thought you should know, so you dont get overly concerned.
