Howdy. I'm seeing discussions about TKR's and wondering if my knee issue even merits being on here, but, here we go. It's only my right knee. Pain is at worst in the mornings, and now seems to be during the whole night. The pain is right around the kneecap, maybe a little below and inside - if that makes any sense. Pain is almost always when bending it and pain is least when I'm more active. I don't really feel it at work and I do a lot of walking. Any ideas? And I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this.
Hi!
A visit to your primary care physician would be a good starting place. He/She will probably order X-RAYS or will refer you to a specialist who will order the X-RAYS.
Pain means that something is going on that needs to be attended to, and knees are complex! You are wise to be seeking out information!
This site is for EVERYONE! Knee problems are many and varied. You are very welcome here on this forum.
Take care! Let us know how you are doing!
Thank you, Cheryl! I do have an appt with my PCP on the 25th - just wish it was sooner. They're packed!
Good! I found that once I was referred to the specialist things got moving pretty fast. I put up with a lot of pain before I went to seek help. Looking back, I really should have gone in sooner, but DENIAL was a huge part of my plan of attack back then.
When I get the opportunity I like to encourage others to do better at seeking help sooner than I did.
Keep us posted on how things go!
You can find a but of everything on here as knee problems take so many turns. 1st of all, proper testing is mandatory for proper diagnosis. Treatment witout diagnosis is dangerous as it can create more and bigger problems down line. Depending where in the world You are located the process differs but I would look for a good orthopedic surgeon and get both x rays for bone information and mri for soft tissue exploration. Don't jump in and start doing excercises without permission from medical people. Icing, rest and anti inflammatory over the counter meds is safe unless you are x allergic to the meds. No braces etc untill you are diagnosed
Yes, get a diagnosis for sure, but it sounds as if you're in the early stages. If you're not sleeping the docs will take you seriously. My knees began creaking mid 30s (too much ice skating) and I had 4 wash outs starting in my early 40 before TKR at 66. They worked really well, so it's not all major surgery. I played a golf competition 3 days after the 1st one! But good luck on the 25th.
Thank you, Fat Guy!
And thank YOU, Diana!
