Can anyone share what has helped their Liver repair? I have stage 3 Fibrosis.
Hi there.
I hope you’re doing ok. It depends on the reason for your Cirrhosis diagnosis. I can only go from personal experience (MASH Cirrhosis).
I’ve worked really hard on this and my bloods are all within normal ranges now. It doesn’t mean the Cirrhosis has gone though, as it won’t. It’s not reversible once you get to this stage. All we can do is manage it and prevent it from getting worse if we can in order to stay compensated.
I’ve found the following has helped:
- I cut out salt completely.
- Absolutely NO alcohol, whether your Cirrhosis is due to that or not. Mine wasn’t, so it was easy to cut out as I didn’t drink anyway.
- No fast foods/ready meals as there may be hidden alcohol or high salt levels
- Increased movement
- Lots of water (my favourite drink!)
- Rest when you feel you need to. I had 3 years of sleep reversal which was ■■■■. I was like a zombie. I’ve now got back into a sleep routine/pattern, which has helped me feel so much better.
- No smoking
- Good hygiene to prevent infections
- Keep up to date with any vaccinations
- No NSAID drugs. I have a lot of pain sometimes, but I don’t take any painkillers now, not even paracetamol. They’re all so toxic to the liver and our poor livers don’t work very well, so putting more stress on them doesn’t help.
- Above all, be kind to yourself and don’t blame yourself or feel guilty about your diagnosis.
I hope that helps.
Take care x
Thank you for your response. I have Fibrosis not Cirrhosis. My personal opinion is it was caused from the Covid vaccines. Sorry, but I am not a fan of vaccines anymore. I am hoping someone can recommend alternative treatments such as a good supplement.
No problem.
But to clarify, Stage 3 Fibrosis is severe tissue scarring of the liver and is clinically classed as ‘early’ Cirrhosis. I don’t think supplements will help at this stage. There are no supplements or drugs that help fibrosis or Cirrhosis, except ones that deal with hepatic encephalopathy etc. for instance (but that’s if you’re decompensated). The basic causes of fibrosis and Cirrhosis are the same, hence the risk factors are also the same. Liver fibrosis is reversible if its underlying cause is treated. However, when fibrosis is more advanced, this reversal is often too slow to avoid complications. So, if changes aren’t made now, you risk full-blown Cirrhosis (Stage 4). So, my advice still stands on the lifestyle changes I mentioned in my original message.
Best of luck.
