Long flight risks - 10 weeks after TPF

Hi everyone,

It's been 10 weeks since I was in an accident that got me a Tibial Plateau fracture without displacement. My leg has been inmobilized until 4 weeks ago, when I started recovering ROM (still at 90) and I have started with partial weight bearing 2 weeks ago. I am now living in Vietnam and for a few reasons (including the obvious) I am flying home (Barcelona) on Saturday.

It was a pretty sudden decision and I didn't think too much about how a 11h flight would affect my knee. My knee is still swollen and after reading about it I'm really worried about DVT.

How worried should I be? Should I reconsider flying home? Any tips on how to reduce the risk?

I'm really worried...

Ask your doctor about what type of compression socks he recommends. They are usually good at protecting against blood clots.

The reply from hope4cure sounds good.  I would also check with the airlines to see what assistance they can be during your flight to get you up and continuing your partial weight bearing.  Also will you be able to elevate that leg to avoid swelling during the flight?  Good luck with your trip home.
