Hi. I'm 21 years of age and I suffer with anxiety. I find it difficult to sleep as the littlest thing like work can keep me awake most of the night! When I fall asleep my thoughts go crazy and i hear random words in my thoughts really loud. I wouldn't say they're like voices in the room but they scare me. They don't say anything mean or anything harmful. Just random words! It's bugging me as I start looking into things and i keep seeing more mental illnesses and it terrifies me. I'm taking tablets for my anxiety but they are still settling down! Help please x
Hi jojo, I have had the same sort of thing as you on and off for years. I agree with you when you shut your eyes you see people and hearing people in your head. It was like when I nearly fell a sleep it was like someone saying in my head wake up so I did. It frightened my that I wasn't getting any sleep and in my head this wasn't normal and I felt I was going crazy and that people and the doctor would think I'm going mad. But this is not the case, it's the anxiety that is doing this to you. The brain is a very powerful thing and it can plays tricks with you. Once the tablets kick in you will start to feel normal again. What tablets ate you on. You will be surprised how many people feel like us, at the time you feel all alone and know one else can ever feel like you do, but there are millions. Good luck you will get through this. Regards DebbieDebbie
I'm on citalopram 30mg. It's so upsetting. I was up for ages hearing things in my head and seeing things and then it sets my panic off. I'm in a viscous circle at the moment and I feel like I can't get out. I've been on the tablets for a while now but the 30mg for about 3 weeks going on 4. I feel so low, mentally and physically. I feel helpless
Hi Joe anxiety has always been my main issue with sleep the less sleep you get the more anxious you become. I use to get quite obsessed with the whole thing and worrying about my mental illness . New reserch is saying insomnia is learned behaviour i beleive this to be true . I have found ways to help with anxiety have you ever considered going to a good homeopath ? I found homeopathy really helpful , as i did get some tablets from the doctors for about a wk . I would worry about becoming addicted to them. I also started a yoga class when i was really bad helped my anxiety loads deep breathing is great. I still have bad night but i dont let it get too me as much good luck
Hi Jo, that was what I was on for three years but I had to have the dosage up every couple of months to get me thinking right. I was on the highest dosage and when my anxiety came back two months ago they couldn't up it but put me on a different table that has worked a lot quicker. I've it time to get kicked in and it will, and if you still don't feel right they will up the dosage. Good luck DebbieDebbie
OK Jojoxxx, it's really important to get the order of things here. When did the words start getting loud. Was it before or after your dosage was increased?
I've had it since they upped it to 20mg and I only get it just before falling asleep x
Has it gotten worse since the latest increase? Such as louder, prolonged, or more frightening?
