At Christmas I had unprotected sex with someone that is a more at risk group for HIV. Two weeks after we first had sex, I had an intense flu, night sweats (a lot of sweating!), dizziness, fatigue, and a sore on my genitals for 3-4 days and went to the STI clinic. I was tested for everything and though the window period was not long enough to be accurately tested for HIV, however a swab of the sore tested positive and meant I was diagnosed with herpes (HSV-2). I would appreciate advice as I am now very concerned that the flu symptoms and sweats I experienced were instead caused by possibly contracting HIV too. With coronavirus, I can't get tested again until the face-to-face restrictions are lifted. Please can anyone offer advice on how to cope with the worry? I'm losing sleep and cannot concentrate on anything else at the minute. Thank you!
you can go to any walk in clinic and request a blood HIV test. I would do that for peace of mind. I went to my dr yesterday and they are only allowing small numbers in at s time. No one in waiting rooms. Its worth it to call a few places and see if you can come get blood work.
a lot of times fever and night sweats come before a first hsv breakout so hopefully its just that not HIV. its common for hsv
