Metallosis

Hi all, I had a hip resurfacing op done about 10 years ago and ended up with metallosis, the levels of metal in my blood were off the charts and theven UK doctors had never seen such high levels! So I had an emergency THR a year and ago half ago. All went well and I was pain free up until the end of February, when I started getting lots of pain again. My metallosis levels are still quite high even though the metal implant has been removed. I've had lots of scans and now they suspect this new implant is loose!

Has anyone had similar experiences where they still have metallosis and their new implant is now loose.

I'm 33 years old and have had 6 hip operations.

Cressida: I thought 4 implant surgeries were a lot!!  I too experienced a form of metallosis for which my God doctor wouldn't take responsibility for.  I kinda felt that he should have borne some of that responsibility since no one ever checked for that possibility prior to the surgery, his response gotta pay for another implant.  I never had it done since the levels in my body were not that devastating.  St6ay away from blood thinners seem to be the root of my issue right now with this hematoma that I have near the prosthesis on my ride side. Too bad we were never informed about what could possibly happen once you get a new hip or hips.

Reminds me of the story where there was this person rushing round the hospital lording it over everyone. Someone asked who it was, the reply ”Oh that’s God, he thinks he’s a doctor”.
