my 10 years old daughter's lyme arthritis

I am new here. My daughter was diagnosed last August with lyme disease. She is 10.4 years old now.

We went to New Jersey at the end of August 2015. Now back by then, 3 weeks later she had this typical expanded red circle rash. Her Doctor said it was virus due to a flu. No treatment at all. Then later she had weird stomach problem. She can not eat breakfast and looked like tired. a few weeks later  she got better. That was end of October 2015.  Since then she was normal. She is quiet active and healthy. She swims 3 times a week since she was 5. She dances 3 hours a week. Until February 2017, her left knee was swollen. Again misdiagnosed  by her doctor. We did X ray, Ultra Sound and MRI. X ray and Ultra Sound told there were fluid inside the knee. MRI told a small meniscus tear. I thought ok that may be the reason for the swollen.  On July 31 2017 we finally went to the Sickkids for the specialist of bone. By then her left knee was much much better, but her right knee started swollen. That took us to the rehumatologist. The doctor asked a lot of questions about my daughter's health history. I mentioned the trip to USA. The blood test came out at the end of August with lyme test positive. She took 4 months antibiotics. Her right knee got better after the antibiotics. But the infection doctor did not give her more antibiotics and thought that was enough. 

The rehumatologist  thought her knee got better so no treatment. Now it has been 3 months after the antibiotics, I felt her both knees are still swollen, although not very serious, but definitely puffer than mine. She is doing fine with her dance and swim and all activity. So far all her symptom is knee swollen with no pain. But psychologically speaking I am sick. I am frustrated and worried her so much for the future. Will the immune system weakens with time? Will she suffer as the others do later? 

I booked ultra sound this week and will see the rehumatologist soon.

Has anybody  have a similar situation? Any suggestions?  How can i bring this to somebody's attention to take more care of my daughter's case. She is so young.

Yes, it wrecks havoc on your immune system. She may or may not suffer worse from it in the future. Usually symptoms appear and get worse over time and sometimes they can even disappear for a bit. It's a cycle. You got to be your own health advocate in this situation. Look around for a Lyme Literate doctor to get treated. You need to be very firm and assertive with your doctors or else they will not care to help treat your daughter. It's very complicate and quite a struggle. But, Be a fighter. Best of luck!

I would get away from doctors. Antibiotics do not kill Lyme. They can kill some. But not all! No way!!  Must do own research and the best I’ve found is hard chamber hyperbaric chamber. There are 2 in Michigan. 40 treatments 5 days a week. It changed our lives. My son had neuro Lyme. Seizures daily. I researched my guts out. Please consider this. It cost us about $6000 for treatments. But was the only thing that really worked. I do suggest more then 40 treatments though. About 45 should be good.  But you can’t just do treatment. You have to also detox her. Because when the lyme bacteria dies it can be often worse on the body than just when it’s living.  This is where you want to research, research, research.  

 Fire the doctors silently.  Be Your daughters own advocate.  I’m not a doctor I’m not a scientist I’m a mom who desperately wanted her son cured.  There is no other person that can do a better job  for your daughter then you!!

 Also, no flour, no sugar, no gluten, good healthy fats, good healthy meat,  and good healthy vegetables.
