I was just given the news that I am positive for type 1&2 herpes about 3 hrs ago. I've told a friend and they want nothing to do w me now. Also I had sex last Sunday before I even knew and I have told that guy and he screamed at me. I feel all alone and I don't know what to do.
What type of herpes test was it (IgG or IgM) and how did you score, if numeric values were provided? Have you had an actual outbreak?
I'm not sure what test it was. The numeric value given was >23.60. I've not had an out break that I no of.

I totally feel your pain, you are not alone. I'm currently waiting back on my results, I'm praying to God that it's not herpes. But I've mentally prepared myself for the worst, I know it's hard to get your head around, you're properly feeling disgusting and angry at the world right now and thats okay. Allow yourself to feel these emotions, thats how we heal.. I want you to know that nothing in this world is as bas as it seems, although it may feel like that right now. It's not your fault, it happens.. We cannot change the pass we can only accept it and move on. There are plenty of people dealing with this out there right now, and worst. Some people are dealing with terminal illnesses, etc, try to find the light at the end of the tunnel. It's going to be okay, and your so called 'friend' isn't your friend nor do you need someone like that in your life. Friends are suppose to support and love you no matter what, so good riddens. It was good of you to tell the guy, it must of took a lot of courage, so pat yourself on the back. And please dont be so hard on yourself, sending you love and hugs. X

His test came back negative. It's was my ex of 7 yrs
Oic.. u didn't know you had this virus when u slept with him it's not like u passed it to him on purpose.. at least u let him know when u found out. In all honesty herpes is just a skin infection.. you may or may not ever have another out break.. as for ur friend I'd say they aren't that great of a friend if they could just walk away over this..

What made you want to get tested in the first place just curious if you had no symptoms?
They should be able to tell you which herpes type you have. If not, then retest using a type-specific kit for IgG antibodies, not IgM. If you are positive for HSV2, it's in all likelihood genital. If HSV1, it's probably oral, like 2/3 of the population.
My ex boyfriend called me and said he thought he had it but had not gone to doc yet. So I just went to get tested and never dreamed it would come back positive. He hasn't even gone to doc yet
I was tested for type 1&2 and both were positive. I knew I would be for type 1 because I've had cold sores before but never dreamed I would for type 2
He needs to wait a couple of months, and then retest. If he only had contact with you some days ago, it would be too soon to test.
Was it the IgG test? IgM is unreliable. Even the IgG test for HSV2 can have issues of low false positives when a person is already a carrier of HSV1, especially if using the HerpeSelect test kit. I see elsewhere that you are contemplating a law suit, but you will need definitive results first and clear info on test kit, test type (IgG or IgM), index values, etc.
