Nerve test

Hi everyoneI was wondering has anyone had a nerve conduction test? I am going to be having one. If it's a pinch nerve then what? I don't want any more surgeries.

Hi Glynis, I have had one done on my arm, and the nerve in my elbow had to be done, the surgery wasnt that bad, and a good recovery.... good luck hope you dont need surgery, wish you the best.....

Thx Susie...I appreciate your comments

Hi, Glynis I have had one done and my personal opinion it was painful so I didn't let the doctor finish.

I agree noshia the actual nerve test was painfull, but I do have a high pain barrier, .....

No, I haven't?? I'll ask my Orthopidic Sureon.

Hi Glynis I have had two tests. The test for muscle , a needle is inserted into the muscle connected to a machine. It checks to see electrical activity to see how much the nerve is connecting. This is not pleasant but bearable. Depending on your pain threshold. The second I had pads put on parts of the leg which I think tests the skin nerves. This is also connected to a machine/computer. This is tested on good and damaged leg to compare electrical activity. If you have nerve damage causing sensitivity issues it is not pleasant but not painful. These are to assess the amount of damage. From my original test last February to second in October there is slight improvement. I am 14 months post op and have had some improvements, despite physio leg not back to previous strength and numbness and irritating skin issues. I certainly would not go through another op , for me traumatic mainly because of issues relating to car accident operations on my hip years ago. Good luck if you have tests but I did not feel that they are that bad. I have quite high threshold. Even so I would describe them as unpleasant feeling rather than pain. I think that I am not likely to get significant improvement because of the time that has passed.

Thank you Debbie you have encouraged me.

I hope and pray you get well real soon.
