I have a small red "rash" that I noticed in my Perineal area, I first noticed it about 4 days ago. Now it is painful when touched, the top layer of skin looks blistered off and it seems to have spread to a couple of other spots in the immediate area. I recently shaved my entire groin/pubic area and also have a new sexual partner within the last 2 months. I seem to remember having a similar spot that hurt the same about 4 months ago but it was limited to a single area and Clomitrazole seemed to help then. I have a job that requires me to wear alot of clothes for 12 hours /day (thermals, overalls, underwear, ect) and I dont get showers in every day. I am just wondering if this is some type of fungal thing or it could be an STD since I have a new partner since the end of December (had sex about 5 times in that period, unprotected). Here is a photo. Was wondering if anyone could help me and tell me if I have to worry about STD or its just something more benign like fungus.simple infection from sweat/dirt + shaving.
You could try Clotrimazole HC [which has the added hydrocortisone] you can buy it otc.. I shouldn't think shaving has helped. You should probably also treat your partner. I won't preach about having unprotected sex with a new partner because you already know about that, don't you!
Try to let the air get to the area when you are at home. And, as ever, if it doesn't clear up, then you need to see your GP or local GUM clinic
Hello, to me, it is neither fungal infections nor bacterial, they are just Intertrigo lesions which have been deteriorated by sweating, warm and simple topical corticosteroids like H.C cream can help. moreover, please keep the area clean and free from clothes as much as you can. contacting your GP is best in all cases. regards
Thank you. I have had spy's that have appeared before on my upper thigh folds which the doctor had mention they thought was intertrigo, it's been such a long time I had forgotten about it. As it is I understand it can be bacteria, viral or fungal. I will take your advice and use some HC HCl and perhaps also clomitrazole as well as it seemed to lessen the redness after just one application already. It is hard to keep the areas dry because I am wearing winter clothes at upwards of 12 hrs daily. I live in the US so it is easy to get a same day appointment to get medication and try to resolve this. I appreciate your advice!
