The medications you have been given are to treat bacterial infections. This would normally be for sexually active people with your symptoms, most of whom would be having unprotected penetrative sex.
It is possible to develop bacterial infections when you are not sexually active, but this would be relatively rare and most likely related to poor hygiene practices such as not showering or washing the genital region, and / or not changing underwear regularly.
I have been dealing with skin issues on the penis all of my adult life so I can certainly give you many tips on what you need to be doing, or avoiding. These are the two essentials:-
i.) wash your penis with water only, make sure it is completely dry after each time you wash or take a shower; and ii.) you must prevent as far as possible any chemical based item from touching the head and foreskin of your penis, here is part of my guide on this:
… draw your foreskin as far forward as you can each time you shower to protect the head, once you have thoroughly rinsed everything off, expose the head of your penis and rub with the inside of your hand only. Don’t apply any Lubes, Baby Oil, Moisturiser or Skin Creams / Lotions to it. If you are sexually active, or Masturbate, clear away any fluids from the entire surface of the head of your penis as soon as you can. You may need to be vigilant and check for several hours after you have ejaculated to see if any further pre-ejaculate or semen reaches the head of your penis.
Essentially, it would be better if you can avoid masturbation for at least 3 or 4 weeks so that your penile skin starts to recover, 4 or 5 months would be even better as this will enable healing to get well under way!
