Hello my name is Jenn, I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder over ten years ago. I have also been diagnosed with IBS..D and very rarely C. I experience bloating, cramps and gas. My doctor said it is called spasms in your colon. I have had 2 colonoscopies and 2 endoscopies. All normal . I just had blood work done also all normal. Today I am prepping for my third colonoscopy, I get one every three years because my mother passed away from colon cancer. I am crampy and feel very gassy. I am not afraid of the test it is the results I am a wreck over. Crying, and going on the internet doing reasearch on bowel cancer. I don't know what to do to calm down. Some advice would be very appreciated.
if you are unsure ask the Dr what it means.
The internet is not always your friend and if you are looking for scary information that is what you will find. Try to do what you can to take your mind off of it. Postive thinking is the best medicine. Concentrate on the fact that everything else has been normal.
I'm sorry, ask the doctor what, what means?
Being crampy and gassy are not an indication of cancer.
Oh Jennifer, you are just fine. I am sure you know that the results will be just fine. If you have this test every 3 months and all was good, this will be the same. I am was seeing my gastrointestinal dr for gas, bloating, major belching. He did an . endocscope. All was good. When I questioned having s colonoscopy, he said to me that I had on 2 1/2 years ago and nothing bad would happen in that time. I said, good I an good to go.
You will be just fine. I know anxiety can do crazy stuff to us. I am dealing with other physical systems myself.
When is your colonoscopy?
Thank you Kathie for your response, sometimes my mind runs away with me. I have to think rationally. Thank you again
It happens to all of us and given your family history I am sure I would be feeling the same anxiety.
when you get your results and don't understand them, then that is the time to ask the medical Dr if there is anything you can't work out for yourself.
