I am 4 weeks post TRH and was doing really well but went to physio today and mentioned that my thigh was aching a bit and so she gave it a deep massage to get the blood flowing and now it is very painful .
I have dosed myself up with mess for the night and hope it eases off .
Have any other hippies had bad thigh pain ?
all advice welcome !!!!!!!!!!
Yes...very bad pain i had...n now 6 mths post thr i hv lil bit relief...but still paining
I am 5 months post op and yes I still have some, particularly when I first stand if I have been sitting for a couple of hours but it soon passes
Hi Jay,
That is my biggest complaint is the thigh pain. I have my physio massage and work it. It is painful and it is always more sore for a day or two after that. I had anterior approach so I assumed that's why my thigh hurts and aches when I first stand up and my first 3-4 strides. Straight leg raises are still very difficult, it hurts my thigh bone/muscle, still pretty weak. I'm exactly 8 weeks today. I'm pleased with my progress other than that dang thigh pain. Seems that it's common.
Continued healing and strength to you!
Hi karen...try walking in home with one slipper on..only in the operated leg..tht has given me much relief to my thigh pain
Thank you! It sounds funny, but if it works, I'll try it! My kids will think I went nuts! Lol My operative leg is slightly longer too, I don't.know if that is a factor or not..
Ya it really sounds funny....but all is ok for the pain to go...
Karenyou are the only other persn i have heard of whose leg is longer. Mine is. I cant stand legs straight together without one being slightly bent.
Yep, me too it feels weird when I walk too, like I am walking with one shoe on and one shoe off. I hope it gets better or I get used to it. Lol
If not we are stuck with a permanent limp. At leadt it will be a pain free limp eventually
hi jay,
same here ... both thighs ... first THR was March and 2nd September 10 - Nothing really helps - i tried Tiger balm and other stuff ; put heat on it and that helped - remember that there is a rod placed in the bone and that is healing from trauma -
I am sort of whimpy and do not like the "working through the pain" method ..
Straight leg raises are so painful, but I do them, gently .. and everyday a little bit higher ...
Not sure if deep tissue massage is that great at this stage ... maybe causes some unrest in tissue ... you can genlty rub it your self ...
if it gets worse I would contact the surgeon ....
what kind of pain are you experiencing?
be gentle with yourself -
warm hug
renee
It feels as though I have pulled the muscle by overdoing it but I don't think I have been overdoing it !
Last week my physio told me to keep trying to raise my leg which I can now do but yesterday told me to only do it every other day !!!! Very confused !
hope it goes quickly
Confession....... ive felt lazy as regards to physio the last week. Long story but basically the outpatients physio where i live knew nothing about me. My referrals had not been sent by the main hospital. ....so naughty me hasnt done anything but walk around the house one crutch..2 crutches when out. Im 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I crutched and stood alot last night wheni went out so stiff today. I went to do my exercises as i felt guilty and i flew through them... leg lifting...squats. .. i was amazed.
Yes I am almost 4 weeks and assumed the thigh pain was linked to the actual wound?? I have been logged out of this most helpful site for 2 weeks..thanks to Dot am now back in...hello all hippsters that have helped me so much..Ali 1??
Ali 2.....
Have rested a lot today and some improvement but painful upon standing after sitting
more mess tonight and hopefully improvement tomorrow 😃
That's what I've found with previous replacements. The body heals itself and physio is only an added side bonus. But most of the healing is done naturally and we don't need physio as much as we've been told.
hi sweetheart. ..
what happened?
start your own discussion so we can all welcome you back
big warm hug
Renee
We depend on this site so much for support
it must have felt awful not to be able to
contribute, welcome back!
Well another bad night with my thigh throbbing all night . Not too bad in the day but when I relax in bed it seems to take hold .
Hope this is not going to go on because it is making me miserable and I was doing so well . Two steps forward and then one back !!!
hope no one else is suffering this ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
You are so right and I depended on it 100% prior to the op when so nervous... Thanks Renee too for welcome back..I couldn't get in despite many attempts and would have given up had not Dot got involved. I agree re one leg longer as supect that may be the case with me.. can't wait for 6 weeks ( 25days now and 10 more injections to my sore tummie) so i can get the bus as am very cut off and cannot walk to the village yet..
