Throat Issues

Hi girls again, have anyone experience when eating or after eating something stuck in throat I not sure if this can be related to the menopause or something else let me know.

Yes. I get that feeling or something on my chest above my breast but under the skin 😣

Hi gilly64426, yes I think I have some kind feeling on my chest too with the Palpitations it makes it feel like something lying on my chest.

Yes...its called anxiety and sometimes it could be the smallest thing which causes all these sudden body changes.

Stress is a major factor. If something happened in your life recent which caused this reaction?

I have something similiar, but mine is not just after I eat.  It can feel like there is a lump  when swallowing in general.  Mine seemed to appear a week after having esophageal spasms about 4 months ago.  It seems to come and go, several doctors think it could be gerd related (acid reflux). Again this is all new for me as I have never had this before.  I find when I feel anxious or stressed it gets worse.  I will be going for a barium swallow test in a few weeks to rule out anything major.

For about a month I felt like I had something stuck in my throat!!!

As if my food was being blocked by a lump. It was really odd. It def makes u think you have some sort of major problem, but I’m pretty sure stress was causing it for me.

It went away after I stopped letting my mind drag me through the Perimenopausal rabbit hole of doom.

Pretty sure 9 out 10 ladies, won’t find an actual problem if they Goto their dr.

Believe me, I still don’t get how a hormonal imbalance could cause this, but then again nothing surprises me anymore in this phase of our lives.

Hi

This can also be down to acid reflux as well this can make you feel like this I work in gastroenterology and this is a classic symptom

I take lansoprozole which is helping me with the reflux I get

HI Lisa

Nice to hear from someone in gastroenterology

I’ve had theee upper endoscopes

Awful things

Although I have a small stomach nodule which my consultant assured me is not causing my bloating herd and nausea

I’m at a loss as no acid damage

I was given lanzaprazole but it makes me dizzy

I know I haven’t given it long enough to work but do these side effects subside

I’ve been in Peri ten years with tons of stomach issues among everything else

Should I just persevere with them

Thank you for your input much appreciated x

a hiatal hernia can cause this too i believe. i had a friend who got a piece of meat stuck in his throat. went to ER and they did emergency hernia surgery. maybe see a GI.

Hi yes defiantly stick with them I have mine at night then the nausea isn’t noticeable and yes it does go off

I have also been checked for lactose intolerance as this can also happen in the menopause

I am border line so I have started to cut back on dairy to try and help as well

Have you been tested for that

HI

No I haven’t but like you I have very limited dairy

Can gerd cause breathless tight chest feeling

I know I’m having very bad anxiety in meno so don’t know if it’s one or the other

Thank you for replying x

Yes it can and this on its own can bring on an anxiety attackS

defiantly worth doing the lansoprazole and seeing if this helps

THank you so much going through hell atm

It’s been a long ten years

I will start the lanzaprazole today again and persevere

I really appreciate your input I’m sick of having endoscopes

And I had a hemithroidectomy three months ago which brought on a period after 13 months

So over all this

I will keep you updated but my gastroscopy consultant point blank refuses to believe it’s hormones causing this

He says it’s stress

I never had this until starting meno x

The menopause has a lot to answer for

Good luck and keep me updated x

Hi Maria I have reflux had it about 20 years but just yesterday got a major flare up. I swallowed a hard sweet whole by accident and now between my breasts is hurting my suggestions. I take lazparazol and peptac daily x

Hi Lisa.  I could really do with some advice.  I no longer have a problem with my throat however, I am producing an excessive amount of saliva.  Also, my inner bottom lip is swollen and there are a few spots on my lip.  It is not painful but it feels odd.   I have been to see different doctors and no one can give me an answer as to the cause and how to treat it.  One doctor gave me a pill for oral thrush but this did not help.  Another doctor tested me for thrush and the test came back negative.  I was told to see a dentist who also had no idea why my lip is swollen and the cause of the spots.  Please help as I am concerned but no one else seems to be.  Thank you.

Hi

To be honest I have no idea on that

Swelling can be an allergy but to be honest not something that I know about worth getting a referral to see an ENT specialist

Thank you Lisa.  Kind regards.

HI Marie I’m new so I was just looking to see if anyone else had these symptoms too !!!!!  I’ve had total hysterectomy 12 months ago been on estrogem only patch different strengths high dose gave me horrendous throat pain indigestion so reduce to lowest dose did easy off but came off total last week ended up with horrendous flu and thought throat pain was due to this flu so decided to put low patch on yesterday then got the same pain finding hard to swallow horrrndous so took this off going to see gp tomoz not sure if my allergic to this patch now or need another’s hormone to balance out sorry for big reply but I’ve been dying to see if anyone else has these issues feel rotten since hysterectomy ☹️

I think yes stress can cause it too..I have a dry mouth and my glands are normal enlarge had blood work for this but it all started as I was transitioning into the menopause, every time I get up tight it kicks off can be distressing but I'm trying not get up tight about anything keep calm.
