Tomorrow is the big day

ok so I can't pretend it's not going to happen any longer as i have to be at the hospital in less than 12 hours. I'm resigned but frightened. Glad I stumbled across this forum it's been helpful.

Good luck Catrin .i didn't find it that bad honestly and I am 60 . Just think that it will soon be over . Keep in touch

Good luck for tomorrow I am sure it will soon be over

Hi Catrin,

don't worry all will be fine, I had mine 13 weeks ago and it feels great, my only problem is I now have excruciating pain in the other one so I'm booked in for my 2nd next month, I had a spinal block and some sleeping meds, I didn't feel a thing, and I woke up to see my hip joint  ( I had asked to see it beforehand) so good luck,

regards,

Lynne.

Hi Lynne did you have any trouble with your other hip before first op .? My other hip is very sore now I am hoping it is just reaction after first op . I wish I had asked to see mine . My elderly dad who lives with me wanted to put it on mantelpiece ! Charming

You will do fine and are probably very prepared for everything. The first few weeks take some adjustment, but as time passes you will contine to see improvement and regain your independence and strength. Blessings to you for your surgery and afterwards, keep us posted once you get back home!! Susan

Good luck, Catrin! I'm sure everything will be fine! Everyone is nervous but I found the hospital staff in pre-op and anaesthetist really kind and well aware of how I was feeling! They did everything possible to help to keep my spirits up! Next thing I knew I was going back onto the ward! Do not suffer unnecessarily! Take all medication they offer! This will help you to get mobile!!

Hi Catrin

Not long to go now and it will soon all be over and you will be on the Recovery ward with a cup of tea. Let us know how you get on. Before you know it you will on this forum as an experienced Hippie helping others who will be about to have their op!

Good luck for tomorrow....it will be over before you know it

Good luck Catrin. It really is not as bad as you fear. I was an absolute wreck before but hospital staff were amazing. Pain was controlled and I now nearly three weeks post op and feel good. Minimal pain, walking everyday. You will be fine xxx

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow and don't worry please. I was terrified and when it was over I laughed at myself but was also grateful it was over. First day is obviously the worst but if you are like me ...my pain had gone! It was the most amazing thing ever I just knew I had to be strong and get back on my feet again. Incision cam be tender but it will decrease day by day. Please don't worry it's the best thing you will ever do. Bug hugs x

Hi Mary,

yes I was diagnosed 3 years ago with cronicOA in both hips, I think the body knows just how much it can take at one time becausenwhile I was waiting for my first opp it was that hip that was agonising ,hardly any pain in the right one, but as soon as I recovered from the opp my other hip started to feel the same as the first did, so now I have to get it done, I'm not mobile at all, my surgeon said they are both buggared (his words lol)anyway I'm hoping that after this 2nd opp I might get some quality of life back,

regards,

Lynne.

Thanks and good luck .

Best of luck to you Catrin! I'm scheduled for mine on April 2nd and I'm also petrified. But the people on this website have helped to calm my nerves.

Please keep your chin up! You have to be strong for those of us that will come behind you. You have to let us know how you are.

Hi Catrim

Its natural to be scared so dont worry I got to the room before the op and the nurses said its too late to back out now. I am so glad I had it done. Pain free from the time I woke up from the op and I am 4weeks now , you will be fine Ruth
