Trochanteric bursitis: recovery

Hi!  has anyone developed Trochanteric bursitis post THR?  I have and its been very painful and halted my burgeoning exercise programme post my physiotherapy.  Today I have had an anti-inflammatory injection in my hip; done by my surgeon under GA, I had hoped to be painfree on waking from the anaesthetic but no.  Verrrrry disappointing indeed.  I hope the next couple of days see improvement.  I will go back to icing and physio, but wanted to hear from anyone who has had this and successfully recovered and moved on past it.

Juliet

Hi Juliet

I don't know if I have that yet. I just had a hip aspiration and scheduled for MRI tomorrow. I follow up with my Dr. the 18th. I just want to share with you that I have had bursitis in my hip prior to having a hip replacement and definitely understand the pain you're going through. I sympathize with you and hope you get some relief very soon. Sometimes it takes a few days for the injection to kick in.

Melissa

Dear Juliet,

that sounds awful and I am sorry to hear that you are in pain  ..

I am not able to help you here and just want to support you ...

Hopefully the medicine will kick in !

Warm hug and be gentlem with yourself

Hi Melissa

Thanks for you message and empathy!  Glad to hear advice that it might take a few days so I will 'suspend my disbelief' and wait it out.  It's frustrating of course not least because it's been 18 months since I worked. I had a slipped disc last year and then got the OA and THR diagnosis. It feels like a long road that's never ending.

Please let let me know how you get on with your tests. Also has the bursitis settled down and is it less painful / painfree for you?

Juliet xxxx

Dear Renee

Its always nice to see your words and thank you for your support!  I think the whole thing has left me emotional because it's been so anti climactic. But here's hoping the injection really kicks in!

How are you today R?  Hope you taking it easy with you recovery and lovely new bungalow... Which by the way will come together slowly like all good things, I mean all good things take time wink

Big hug

Oh Juliet, that's just not fair. it is a traumatic, life changing thing this THR that plays with your emotions and your head. I cannot imagine throwing something else in to cope with and the thought of having further injections in my hip now fills me with horror.

What I do know is that you have a zest for life and a goal at getting better so you will get there. I am never sure why the universe sends us further obstacles but I do know that your path is changing and something good will come.

Love and light and positivity

Kate

Hi Kate, thanks so much... Your words come at good time, just  as I was just hitting a morning low...who doesn't want things to be just right?!  I agree with you though, a new path is emerging, I'm just not sure what it's going to bring. Guess that's the joy of life, eh!?!

Best wishes to you too Jx

Hey Juliet

I had bursitis 2yrs ago in my right hip. This wad all before I was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis. I got a shot in my hip for the bursitis and because I was unable to take any anti-inflammatory medicine due to the fact that I am allergic. During my labral tear surgery he removed the bursitis.

Aah thanks for info Melissa. Gosh you've been through a lot!  Jx

I have tried Golden Paste (GP) with sucess It works as an anti inflamitory. Look up Turmerick user group or Turmeric user group UK on Facebook so much information

Hope this helps
