Constant clenching jaw and grinding teeth

Hey all, I've been a jaw clencher for as long as I can recall, but now I'm reaching my higher 30s it's really now starting to take its toll, tension headaches, dizziness, sore neck are just a few of the side effects. I only do it when I'm conscious as far as I'm aware, and it's worse when feeling stressed. I keep trying to tell myself to stop it but by the time I realise I'm doing it it's usually already starting to hurt. Has anyone successfully overcome this awful habit?

I used to get that a lot I went to my dentsit and he got me a mouth guard made up it goes over your teeth and is clear and after using it for a few months my pains went away u have to take it out to eat but u can also sleep with it too I didn’t know I was doing it most the time but had horrible headaches and pain cause of it

my own solution for my own OCD(i will term it that way) was to continuosly affirm "i am calm and peacefuland relaxed " with closed eyes if alone ., else inwardly and silently with open eyes

well, this affirmation has to be continious and with concentration..all through the day

i did it whenever I had leisure time

this new OCD  over-wrote  previous OCD, but it takes a very long time to break a habit, several months

as it may be linked with anxiety, consulting a doctor may help..

Hey I do have a mouth guard but I just figured it was for sleeping with? I guess it won't hurt to try wearing it in the day

Also have you reached the stage now where you no longer need it?
