I found out that I have genital herpes and I have not been sexually active for 5 years
I had it about 4 years before finding out as well. The doctor said its not uncommon for that to happen. Its a major shock to the system thats for sure. Are you dealing ok with the shock?
Have you not had any outbreaks at all in that time? If that's the case, then a positive side of this is that your body is clearly dealing well with the virus as it's stayed dormant for so long. How are you feeling about it?
Apparently most people don't know they have it , epecially if no signs or symptoms.
Did you have systemic symptoms? Fever, drippy nose, drippy vaginal discharge, fatigue, leg or hip pain, headache? All or some of the above often accompany initial ob.
