Ok so first of all thank you for reading my post and listening, 

Hi I am female, had sex with new partner and now have had swollen glass ever since. Please read below and give me any advise that you can to stop me going out of my mind!

5 weeks ago, sex with new partner- didn’t finish 

4 weeks ago, did ‘finish’

Same week started developing swollen glands 

Sex again 3 weeks ago swollen glands still there 

Got antibiotic from the doctor and took for one week- hasn’t taken swollen glands away. I developed flu symptoms one week ago plus the swollen glands. 

Had hiv test on the 27th which came back negative. Which is 5 weeks from initial exposure. And 4 weeks from semen exposure. 

Can someone please advise if this timeframe is accurate for me to rule out hiv? I’m am worried sick that it’s that I have never had glands swell up before and the doctor doesn’t know why. 

We did have sex last week so would that effect the accuracy of the test? Bearing in mind I started developing the glands symptoms earlier on. 

Has anyone ever had a positive test at 4 weeks?

Has anyone ever had a negative that turned into a positive at 4 weeks?

Has anyone ever had same symptoms as me and worked out what it was?

Hey lovely. 95 per cent of people would show positive after four weeks but the recommended window at least in uk and USA is 12 weeks but a negative at 4 weeks is good! Do you know your new partners status? Honestly I had a similar thing, turned out my partner had glandular fever and gave it to me. We both got tested him first then me four months later. I still get really bad swollen glands even now.

Thanks for the reply. He’s status is unknown. He hasn’t tested in a while and I’m not sure of how many sexual partners he has had.

Yeah just go back and get tested after 12 weeks but I'm sure you will be ok if nothing's showing up now on a 4th gen test, especially if you have symptoms that implies you would be producing antibodies xx
