Blood pressure & temperature, weight and height. Nurse does all this.

On the day of the op - or pre-op? Or both?

Not all of them. However they will run a routine blood test, hb ,electrolytes ,CRP, etc and do a group and save in case a transfusion is needed. Your blood pressure will be taken and is one of the things that is monitored throughout the op. The day after the op I expect you will have another blood test to check how much your Hb has gone down and that your electrolytes are settling back to normal. Blood pressure and temperature will be monitored throughout your stay

had blood taken before admission to ward to establish blood group ...

are you all ready and packed ? what time is your surgery ?

Thanks Renee - I have to be at the hosp for 8 - don't know surgery time yet. They're going to phone me this morning. No, not packed, but I've made a list. Can't wait til it's over!

I didn't have any done again. If there are problems with one of them pre op I don't know what would happen. However you are hooked up to a blood pressure machine before having the epidural and stay hooked up during the op.
