Hi I have most of the kit needed for after op except shoe horn, have post op hippies got these and are they worth buying looking at site named after river and not sure what length to buy I am 5ft 4. Thanks in advance
Hi Tracy
I purchased a long shoe horn from the pound shop and I found it superb for putting on my shoes 6 weeks post op.
Good luck with your op.
Hi Tracey. I got mine through occupational therapy along with my raised toilet seat. I'm in Birmingham. Maybe it depends on where you are. It's well worth having along with the sock aid. Good luck with your op. Denise
Hi , hospital gave me one but I never used it , got shoes with Velcro and leave them loose .
Really useful but you can get cheap ones...i also got a dressing stick from ebay...has a hook at each end..two different types....great for pulling up your pants and socks and lots of other uses....
Going for a wander to shoe discount warehouse near me to look shortly getting quite good putting bottom half of clothing on using grabber, been using sock aid for a year now would not be without it.
did not think about pound shop John
Hi!
I found the long handled shoe hoen indespensable....on reflection would have bought two for different floors! got thru the hospital for a couple of pounds...
Where-as, as a .bloke, I found the sock putter-on total pants. Luckily my pretty lady does this for me, that is until exactly six weeks post op when I can do it myself, drive, fly thru the air, and do double sommersaults!
Mic
Oh wow mic I didn't realise we could do so much at 6 weeks, I'm really looking forward to it now, flying through the air will save the pain in my other leg and double somersaults, I can see will come in really handy.
However although I purchased a sock aid and shoe horn I've never used them, as a women I just didn't wear sox and when I went out bird watching my friend put my warm walking sox on me but I never needed a shoe horn, I wore slip on shoes. The sock aid I just didn't really understand and to be honest didn't really try.
Well...The manuals and medics say DON'T a lot for early healing...but at six weeks well wow anything goes apparently.
I hope to hover over pied flycatchers nest with my new skills next month! Mx
Excellent lol !!
wow can't wait for 6 weeks post op lol

The best purchases I made were a shoe horn and elastic shoelaces!
I found both on Ebay
Hi Tracy the only thing I didn't have was a bath board for getting in the bath to have a shower because my shower is over the bath I got one from the red cross for a small donation they have other things too.
Hi Tracey
i got mine when i went to gym before op when they gave me my cruches i have had both hips done and knees and never used a shoe horn or picker upper as some one said they had Velcro shoes i do to more easyer the only thing i use when i had my right hip done was my dressing gown belt to help raise my leg in bed
Right went totally off track with this one and ended up ordering a new pair of slip on trainers instead!!!! I am going to Majorca in September and planning to do lots of walking and a decent comfortable pair will do me a treat.
