Short version: Had a THR Oct 2015, but due to surgical and hospital errors had a 'misplaced acetabulum', so I had to have revision 10 weeks later. I have been getting better ever since, but during light gardening last week, noticed it squeaking.
So, went to the surgeon today, had yet another X-Ray, and happily he has pronounced it OK . Next review in 12 months.
Hope everyone else is doing well - keep ut the exercises to strengthen your leg muscles folks.
And what odd skies we have here in the UK now, all due to hurricane Ophelia off the west coast of Ireland we are told.
Here on the Isle of Wight it was really very strange from late morning. It became so dark and the sky was filled with very dark heavy clouds. It looked and felt as if a storm was about to hit.
The sky is now better but I have the feeling the air is very poor quality so have just had to close the window.
So glad you are doing fine and you are good now. Im one year after hip replecement and still waiting for opsite hip to be done wich supposed to be done in march. New hip is not so bad but opsite giving me hard time. Plus with
LLD my low back sometime sufer. The health system here is bad now here.
Hopefully i will get my hip replecement soon. Its just hope but more important you are doing fine after all what you went through.
The squeak was from the hip joint itself ... ceramic on ceramic, like a squeaky door hinge. Relief indeed that it was pronounced OK.
Retirement is 'different' .... sometimes good, like having time to do all the things I want to do, sometimes I just like to go shopping alone to get a short break from my new 'boss'. It takes some getting used to, being together all day, every day.
Hey Rocket! Great news about your hip. My mother strangely had the same development a few weeks ago and her surgeon xrayed it, and all is fine too. It is VERY noisy though, so can see why she wanted it checked out.
Glad you are healthy and well and your hip is good
That rather reminds me of the weeks waiting for my revision. The poly cup had
failed due to twenty years of hard work and every few steps I made resulted in a very loud squeak which got me some very strange looks. I found it necessary to explain that it was only my hip! All is well now since having the ball and cup replaced.
