Squeaky hip - all clear

Hi THR fans,

Short version: Had a THR Oct 2015, but due to surgical and hospital errors had a 'misplaced acetabulum', so I had to have revision 10 weeks later.  I have been getting better ever since, but during light gardening last week, noticed it squeaking.

So, went to the surgeon today, had yet another X-Ray, and happily he has pronounced it OK .  Next review in 12 months.

Hope everyone else is doing well - keep ut the exercises to strengthen your leg muscles folks.

And what odd skies we have here in the UK now, all due to hurricane Ophelia off the west coast of Ireland we are told.

Best wishes everyone

Graham

Hey Graham

Good news for you. Always reassuring when Dr says ok.

Stay safe in the hurricane

Sandra

Dear Graham

Glad to hear it's good news for you.

Here on the Isle of Wight it was really very strange from late morning. It became so dark and the sky was filled with very dark heavy clouds. It looked and felt as if a storm was about to hit.

The sky is now better but I have the feeling the air is very poor quality so have just had to close the window.

All the best Richard

Good news Graham, glad the Xray was ok.

Yes v weird weather today, very orange sky...sand blowing from the Sahara desert. Wise to close your windows Richard!

Ah, the IoW... you remind me that we had a wonderful break at Bembridge earlier this year ......

Ah such pleasant memories

I am told the redness in the sky was due to sand from the Sahara Desert !

Dear Graham

Had I have known I would have suggested a meet up as I live in Ryde.  Glad it brought back good memories for you.

Cheers

Richard

Yep, best thing to do in the circumstances!  Cheers, Richard

Great news Graham. Richard Kent I was in Bembridge in July at Warners. Went to Ryde too. Lovely place to live.

Glad to hear all turned out well.

Good you checked it out.

Yes we all have to remember to always keep  up with the exercises.  No matter how far along.

You live in a beautiful part of the country, I'm jealous ...hope the hurricane and dark clouds pass through quickly!!!

Cheers.  Susan

We were at Warners in May.

Thanks Susan,

It's lovely and sunny now, but really quite cold.

Best wishes

Graham

Hi Graham,

Great news ... phew

Where did the squeaking come from ????

Skies here in Holland were eerie too ... white little sun in a yellow sky colored everything different -

we were told that the fires in Portugal also contributed to this phenomenon -

do you enjoy retirement ?

Big warm hug to one of my favorite fellow hippie

Hi Graham,

So glad you are doing fine and you are good now. Im one year after hip replecement and still waiting for opsite hip to be done wich supposed to be done in march. New hip is not so bad but opsite giving me hard time. Plus with

LLD my low back sometime sufer. The health system here is bad now here.

Hopefully i will get my hip replecement soon. Its just hope but more important you are doing fine after all what you went through.

Big hug

Madla💗💗

The squeak was from the hip joint itself ... ceramic on ceramic, like a squeaky door hinge.  Relief indeed that it was pronounced OK.

Retirement is 'different' .... sometimes good, like having time to do all the things I want to do, sometimes I just like to go shopping alone to get a short break from my new 'boss'.  It takes some getting used to, being together all day, every day.

Big hugs

Graham

Thanks Madla, lets hope your other hip and LLD get sorted soon.

Best wishes

Graham

Hey Rocket! Great news about your hip. My mother strangely had the same development a few weeks ago and her surgeon xrayed it, and all is fine too. It is VERY noisy though, so can see why she wanted it checked out.

Glad you are healthy and well and your hip is good smile

All the best

Rose

Ooh, at least mine isn't very noisy, and only does it occasionally - usually when I do a bit too much bending to tie shoelaces.

Best wishes to you & your mum

Graham

Dear Rose

That rather reminds me of the weeks waiting for my revision.   The poly cup had

failed due to twenty years of hard work and every few steps I made resulted in a very loud squeak which got me some very strange looks.  I found it necessary to explain that it was only my hip!  All is well now since having the ball and cup replaced.

Cheers

Richard

cheesygrinYou are so cute ... I can imagine that it is different - and for her too !!!
