what I want to know is why do some have staples? I have got dissolvable stitches, therefore I have to do nothing more with regard to having anything removed. Why donthey use staples. Is there some advantage?
I asked m Consultant what I had and he said permanent stitches to the bone. dissolvsble to the muscle and staples to the outside. He also went on to say it was the Consultants preference as to what he did ......
Yeah, same as others! I asked nurse why I didn't have waterproof dressing as some others on this forum had. I to had staples. She said each surgeon has their own preference and procedures. I don't really care now. 2.5 weeks on, staples out and had my shower on monday and I have a lovely neat scar which can't even be seen when I wear short shorts! So pleased with my surgeons work
You would think there would be uniformity with this operation but there does not appear to be. I had my op in a private hospital under the NHS. Had dissolvable stitches, no stockings but a new blood thinning tablet which I took for a month. It would be a good thing if consultants could have access to what we are writing about as it may improve the outcome of this procedure.
I had desolvable stitches by choice. I have seen wounds with staples and I didn't like the look of them so oppted for desolvable ones and I have a very neat looking flat scar that healed very quickly.
I had glue, and the Districe nurse came the day after my dressing came off to take out my Stitches out...There is a lack of communication within the NHS that is strange, perhaps she just wanted to see my smiley scar or my butt.... Old Man Ian ++
