hi Kate. im.suffering with lots of stomach/ibs problems. I have stomach cramps throughout the day, need the toilet more often. Acid reflux is awful too, heartburn is agony. i didnt think it would be menopause related but seems lots of ladies suffer these symptoms .

karen that sounds awful. i have never ever been a big eater and have never been a hungry person but over the last couple of months ( not all the time) i feel full and can be really gassy from both ends! i also have symptoms if reflux. its so miserable xx

hi sandra ! sorry you seem to have these issues too. my symptoms come and go - the last few days i feel full and my stomach tonight is making horrific noises. i have wind a lot of the time from both ends ! i have reflux issues too; sore throat, mucus and just generally feel rubbish xx

HI Kate, Early in peri...GERD, symptoms...heart palps, chest pain, center of stomach pain, acid in throat, appetite loss, full feeling after eating only a little, lost 15 pounds. Also, bowel issues sometimes like my food is not digesting properly...frequent, loose around period, whether or not a period comes. To manage the GERD, no eating 3 hours before bed, elevate my head a little while sleeping, no spicy foods, no over eating, and I use caution with fried food. I gained back most of the weight I lost. Take good care!

yes im always full of gas. us ladies dont half go through it xx

oh my word Lou you have described most of my symptoms! does earing bread affect you at all x

i love how honest we are with each other on this forum xx

No, I will actually eat plain bread or toast if I get nauseas... Helps me a bit. 

ive had toast today and am soooooo windy

chicken does that to me sometimes...:-)

hiya this is one of the biggest issues ive had resulting withs scope down my tummy to be diagnosed with dysbracia or wind....my bowel the same , up and down but it has settled alot...i take a windese tablet from boots which hss helped with the tummy ... hang tight...drink plenty and get out for a walk ect...keep an eye on what you are eating to see if your is reacting to what you are eating....hormone fluctuations play havoc with your gut ....hang tight you are not alone with this and will ease with time. CK

thank you carol ; i am so windy tonight my stomach is gurgling

Hi Carol. I was wondering what your symptoms were. I have had terrible wind for 2 years. I have changed my diet and it has seemed to help. But I am filled with so much gas every day sometimes my stomach extends from it and it truly hurts. I use a heating pad and this seems to help when it gets really bad. I thought it was just me lol

Hi Kate, I'm 47 and gave been in peri for 5 years. 25 years ago I was diagnosed with GERD and gastritis. I had my gallbladder removed 8 years ago due to sludge (no stones). I have found that since I've been in peri my symptoms have been worse--terrible acid reflux no matter what I eat or drink, burning in my stomach, lots of burping and unrelieved gas. Lots of bloating, phantom gallbladder pains, nausea, etc. I was just at my doctor's this week to discuss all this and she said with the wild hormone fluctuations (especially low progesterone) digestive issues can be a big issue. I currently take an OTC PPI drug for the acid reflux, but my dr is a natural wellness doctor and she prefers that i try to get off the PPI. So this is what I'm doing to manage my symptoms: take a digestive enzyme before each meal, follow a paleo diet, eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, drink plenty of water, walk daily, and avoid dairy and gluten.

I'm sorry you are dealing with these issues. They make you feel that much worse and I know it can make it difficult to just get through the day. I'm told this will all get better--hopefully sooner than later! I wish you good health! Please keep me posted on how you're getting on. Big hugs-Sarah

sarah thank you so very much for such a detailed response. its just an awful symptom isn't it? i will follow your advice for diet? what digestive enzyme do you take xx

Kate, The digestive enzyme is called XymoZyme. I got it directly from my doc's office but I see that it can be purchased on line. I take one capsule before each meal. I just started using this supplement and it does seem to help. xx Sarah
